XPO | tales from the greener side of the fence

hey guys sorry it took so long to get back on here, to answer your questions yes i quit about a month before they closed effingham ,my wife and i sold our house and moved to indianapolis so i am not part of the super fed-ex in effingham. like i said i did some time OTR and found a better paying stress free trucking job here in indy right b-4 christmas everything is going great.
i will however remind you guys how how stupid the fine folks at conway are. shortly after we moved to indy (b4 i found the otr job) i saw xin was hiring i told the wife what the hell i will apply and see what happens well needless to say i never got considered now you would think after 7 years with the company they would hire me less than 3 weeks off the job you know. they hired someone whom they would have to train and spend extra time and money etc etc...now i was willing to start at the bottom just to have a job but i guess everthing happens for a reason and i am much happier with the choices i made. as far as conway is concerned i wish you guys the best of luck and i will wave at ya when i pass ya!
Doesn't say much for you that:
a.) You applied at Con-way after quitting Con-way:duh:
b.) They would rather put in the effort training a brand new employee than rehiring you.:biglaugh:
Ya might want to rethink where the "stupid" badge applies here. :wavey:

at the time i needed a job i did everything i could to find a job locally before i HAD to go otr. trust me i really didnt want to but like i siad i needed a job.luckilly the company i am with now got 2 big accounts and had to hire some folks and i was the first one they called about 1 month after i applied. furthermore it did not surprise me one bit that conway didnt rehire me .for the reasons you just mentioned but i also had my own drawer in the file cabinet for my file. incident reports,loi's,etc.... so i wasnt in "good standing" i couldnt even get hired at conway truckload. i wound up at transport america for about 6 weeks befoe i was offered the job with the company i am with now.

You knew you weren't in "good standing" but you thought they would rehire you only 3 weeks off of the job. Is this correct?

Just trying to understand the thought process here.

i needed a job after i moved to indianapolis my house in effingham sold i had to move therefore. the thought process was desperation.luckily i was hired by transport america and could work till something better came along. which it did.
trust me i had no desire to work for conway ever againd and still dont. but at the time i needed income and i figured it would be a shot in the dark .i might add i applied to about every trucking compnay that was hiring at the time so please understand i was not EXCLUSIVLY trying to get hired back at conway.

you know i am sorry i ever started this thread obviously someone missed the point.
the point was once you leave conway they pretty much wash their hands of you. if you get the chance to leave go and dont look back! it took me trying to get rehired at anoher terminal to realize conway is a S#@t hole company. and the 7 and half years i was there was pretty much 7 and half years of my life i will never get back.

So, where you working now? lets compare the S##%hole companies..

Huey, try to simply chalk your time with Conway up to experience.

However, for whatever reason, you will probably be just one more of a huge list of peeps out there talking negatively about Conway. There is a predominate reputation out there now that impacts qualified and experienced applicants. And this, in turn, affects our workforce/company - negatively.

Did you ever hear of a TRANSFER???? If XIN was hiring, you could have transfered. But you may talk bad about Con-Way, but it took 7 years to quit and they did help you with all your bills as well. Just be thankful for that!!!

Damn that blue kool-aid sucks:duh:

A disgruntled ex-employee, is not that uncommon at CW......there are more than likely, more of them (disgruntled ex-employees), than there are of us (not yet disgruntled ex-employees)....One must admit, that he has a valid point......the company does not have the "status" in our industry, that it once did. There was a time, not that long ago actually, when CW could attract a far different candidate for all it's positions, than today. At least, that is the point I think he was trying to make.....

Most posts on here are from disgruntled ex or current employees. They just need a place to vent. The happy ones don't go searching the internet for a place to vent. They just watch TV.

Do those 'far different candidates' even exist anymore? If so, they are few in number.
