XPO | Where do I start?

I would also like to add. What's up with hiring all these pail green management people? Mind you I state "pail green" because some of these people have-not a clue. We all were new to this business once, but it seems to me CMWY doesn't want experienced people. Infact they want someone who didn't gradutate at the top of there class neither. Or at least that is what it seems. I didn't graduate college. Call me dumb. But since I come from a long line of college instructors who preached to me at a young age that college takes the common sense out of people and replaces it with egos; Why would I go to college? I am not pointing my finger at everybody. But lately it seems that the college degree is just like the GED. A business management or advertising degree isn't rocket science. But neither is running this company.

Just food for thought.

Im frustracted also- times are difficult . I hope that things will get better . At one time a felt a part of something truely unique. From management on down we have lost a lot of ground. I pray it will get better for all our sakes both management and employee. It truely saddens me. Ive work with some great people here. I hope all our futures are better

management is not stupid, 800 wont fly. but lets all hope that they are smart enough to keep the yrc,'s that they hire out of decesion making, it didn't work there and it wont work here.

I know of someone who works for them in their backoffice. That person told them that their billing and quoting accuracy was in need of fixing. Customers were getting upset and threatening to use another carrier. They never listened because they don't care. Management only cares about collecting their pay until the company goes under.

man good luck to you, sounds like you should have been a keeper. do not know your situation, but sounds like yopu are a survivor. we need you you back. got to be a way what can we do to help.

2 words to sum it all up.......CONWAY SUCKS!!!!!!!

Huey if it sucks so bad why don't you quit and let someone like myself who was economically terminated back in dec. have my job back. Now I'm going to have to go over the road because there is no other jobs available where i live.

And you would have me to move where? Is there some state or city that has jobs abundant? I think not. Again I will repeat if con-way sucks so badly quit, and let someone else who wants the job have it, because I would gladly take my con-way job back.

Do they suck because you quit and they wouldn't hire you back after 7 weeks, or would they be an OK company had they hired you back when you couldn't find anoher job..?? Perhaps there is someone somewhere who is saying "Huey sucks!"...Looks to me like break even...you won, we won...

They suck because of the way they treat people. Several years ago when the economy was growing and jobs were plentiful, they acted like they cared. It was all a f**** act.
To them, employees are dishrags - use em up & throw em out. At ther IT department, they kept the foreign contractors and laid off the US employees. Someone else I know called the Teamsters organizational office and told them all about it.

What's up with this crap about "we are laying off, but we won't tell you until you are fired?" That is abuse of freaking power. I hope Obama raises taxes up to 90% on corporate executives making millions. From what I heard, YRC employees kept jobs, but just took a pay cut. Con-way could have done the same but didn't because they like the power trip of keeping everyone scared.

They are in trouble. They are desperate and keep changing directions. From huge discounts to no discounts to spot quotes to deferred service on rails to not anymore. They can't find anything that works because they are running the company from the seat of their pants. Customers want stability and they want the end result to match their expectations.

Instead of just griping, I will say what I think is the right way to run a company...
Don't overhire. Use temp help for the short term. Don't go all over the place with wild pricing swings. Either be high cost with superior service or lower costs with average service. But don't swing back and forth all the time. The customers won't like that.
And if you do layoffs, include some managers and other non-esential employees so the real workers feel like it is shared sacrafice. Also, they should have used seniority as a determining factor. Why axe people with 30 years service and keep foreign contractors? Answer - greed.

As for those of you who are sucking up to their crap... GET SOME SELF RESPECT

During that first round of lay-offs, all employees were included. Drivers, csrs, management, G.O. employees. If you work for this company, you would know that.

What is a f**** act??

And please tell us what the Teamsters Organizational office said.

No, RT doesn't know, because it was someone he knows, a friend of a cousin who heard a rumor from some guy who may have called...

After you get done hearing what you want to hear, tell it to the some 8-10,000 YRC people who don't work there anymore as of March 1st...and the remainder who voted in the 10% paycut...Pay attention to what's going on around you...Our most recent economic terminations went from VPs to RMs to SCMs to DSRs to CSRs to Building Maintenence to Mechanics to G.O. support...Did somebody just put a quarter in you and you started up or have you been awake this entire time..??

Boxboss:
I must admit, you make me laugh my a** off..
I have read many of your post sticking up for conway....
You come across as a manager that knows it all..(most managers if not all company managers are as scared as the drivers and fear that dreaded moment when uppermanagement come in and say>see Ya!)
Most managers are so busy, they dont have time to check their own emails yet alone spend so many hours sticking up for a sorry company like it is on some trucking forum...
Kinda sounds like a os&d clerk to me..
It will come a day when the drivers and dock workers decide it's time for a backup source to the b.s. and start the much needed process of getting proper reprensation...
some people with power and connections to get things done, the same way the overnite drivers did...
They spent many years trying to keep the union out but there came a day that they decided (NOW IS THE TIME)!
And it is working well for them, they now get paid for all they do and if something is NOT right, they have a source to get the problems fixed, with your company the only people with pull are the brown nosers....
The Time is very near, very near!:flame:

I was referring to the IT layoffs. And I only have partial info about YRC.
BoxBoss, why don't you tell everyone why you think outsourcing is so wonderful?
If Bush had his way, Mexicans would be driving all the trucks right now.

I don't know what part of the Country you are in, but have you not looked around? Mexicans are driving all of the trucks:clap:
