Outsourcing to foreign countries sucks....period...outsourcing an IT project (design) to a US contractor is not uncommon, happens all the time with a million companies, and is a part of everyday business...
Or are you just pissed that the people that work for the US contractors appear to be "foreigners" to you...???

you know your exactly right i really dont have a reason to post here on the conway boards. but its so fun knowing i have a good job now and i am enjoying life right now. my point the last few posts is ,...there is life after conway and once some of you guys realize that and get out of that rut they got you in .your lives will be better to. unless you like being treated like crap, having to work in sub zero temps on the dock. driving junk equipment,and working for a poorly managed micro managment system. more power to you. i was merely trying to point out to the folks that (like me in the past) who are fed up with conway that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It never ceases to amaze why someone who is no longer employed by Con-Way or never was a member of Con-Way (think the UPS Freight poster) would want to come to this forum and bash the company.

I think it is a case of jealousy more than anything else. I have read lots of posts from other company forums and there doesn't seem to be a lot of this same behavior.

Perhaps they wished they still worked for the company or did not get hired for whatever reason and now find it prudent to bash to of us who work here.

Sorry to bust your bubble but no one really cares about your rants regarding the company or it members. Those of us on this forum who are employed by Con-Way have bashing rights...you don't!

I still can't get over that he was so tired of Con-way's crap and all the bad that he tried to rehire 7 weeks later...The Rat is right...we appreciate the invitation to nirvana, but some of us still believe in what we are doing, even in a less than perfect environment..

I think I'll pass on the hot, french fry oil spraying on my arms. You go ahead and keep flipping those burgers if that is what makes you happy. I myself have done quite well at Con-way.
 
the way i see it its a free country, and i have the freedom to speak my mind.whether its on here or anywhere else. i am so glad i left conway i just wanted to share my joy and if you took that as bashing i am sorry. and for the record i could care less about the company. i just feel bad for the drivers who have no choice but to stay because there is nothing else out there.

How many years did you have at Con-way?

light at the end of the tunnel... life after Con-Way. To put this in proper perspective this guy left the industry. The industry being the LTL business. As most of us know, the LTL industry isn't just about driving a truck from point a to point b. You either feed on the pace of the LTL industry or it will feed on you.

The competition is starting to offer a 10am guaranteed delivery premium service. That's going to be tough for us to offer. So how will we counter this offer to the customer?

There doesn't seem to be much market for the service and what need there is goes through expediting companies from what I see. This is just another service FedEx will put in the brochures. An additional service along side of what others they offer.

Their operation is like ours. Line Haul out and Line Haul in. Too many factors to deal with to be effective with this service in LTL. Cost not being the least. What are they going to do. Turn loose LH runs early from the break bulk to make the service even if the trailer is not full? They do have FedEx Custom Critical which would seem to be the more likely candidate for such a service rather than the LTL division.

They are essentially duplicating their own service.

Remember Con-Way Now? Never was big money maker.

R&L has had this kind of service for years. I have never heard any of their drivers say it was a big part of their company's revenues.

Of course there is the price factor. How much are they charging for the service? Plus didn't they take a rate increase during the first part of Jan.? This may be in response to lost freight volume as a result of the increase.

You come to gloat over what you percieve as someone elses misery or misfortune.

Guess what?...nobody is buying it!

While I and others here don't work for perfect company...I damn well guarantee you it is miles ahead and much better than yours...hands down...

What you need to do is find a forum related to your new career and leave the LTL business to those that can actually do the job.

I know why you are happier. You no longer have to start each day wondering what they are going to do to you. They make you feel that way because that is their management style - micro manage and build a "file" on everybody. Then people disappear and everyone wonders "Am I next?" Companies like this will always have hard core butt lickers. They rise up to managemet and get all happly cause now its their turn to abuse the little people.
 
It's sad but you have to admit when there is a glutton of drivers like there is now, the micro managing powers that be are most likely placing bets with each other on how much money they can take away from employee's (dsr's in particular) and still get their boots licked by them....:bowdown:
