Sorry for you and your Family Golfpro, but look at it this way the way this company has been changing it is not for the better anyway.
To Whom it may concern,,
What do you get after 24 years of dedicated service with Estes Express??
Your hours cut down to 31-32 hours, a week a rolling day off and
Your house foreclosed on!
Yes that"s right,, during these rough times Estes found away to play the numbers game!!
How can we maintain our comfy life style? Let"s cut the workers hours and give them rolling days off.
This is how it was done in Salisbury,MD.
You see My Husband was a Driver for Estes ,, First started in Baltimore then 4 yrs.ago transferred here to Salisbury,Md. Everything was going good,,50 to 55 hours a week. Here the Drivers were also the dock workers
they would go in early to load the trucks then hit the road,,Someone at Estes decided lets save money and cut these men back,,We can save money if we hire dock workers at a lower pay!!This caused a big problem, now the Drivers were coming in later and getting out on the road late which in turn made alot of customers mad because their deliveries were late and some customers decided to cancel their accounts with Estes.
Now the economy went bad and Estes needing to maintain their wealthy life style needed to cut back even more,,So they started with rolling days off and coming in at 10am then it went to 11am ,,Now I"am hearing that Bob O"Conner and Phil had something to do with this,,,after all,,they say,, the numbers show it could be done ..Now to make matters worse ,,we have the Term./Mang. Nick. First lets make this clear.
There is 2 other men besides my Husband who also has 24 or more years with this company,,Now when there was extra hours available they rarely went to these men with the most time in with the company .Instead it went to the guys with 5 to 8yrs of service,,These were the guy"s who play"s golf and softball with the T/M and who cover for him when he was at the gym and now taking up a nursing career.. or using the company truck to do other errands,,not to mention other dealings,Yet this man is still able to maintain his same pay and I am sure bonus..
And know these men with the most years with the company are not slackers either,
One would think if you were a good T/M you would give it your all to the most dedicated employees,,those men who helped Estes become what they were! Mr.Rob Estes needs to take a better look at what is really going on at these terminals .He might be able to save money on some of these Managers,,
Yes I am a BITTER WIFE,,after all I never thought after 24 yrs ,That we would lose our home to forecloser and that my Husband would have to start all over again with a new company and now be away from home for a week or so,,not to mention our Family needing to find a home and to start over again rebuilding our credit to be able to buy a new home in 2 or 3 years.
So,, Mr. Rob,,Bob,O"Conner,,Phil and Nick and all those other ones who helped crunch the numbers ,,I will pray for you all ..It seems to me that you all forgot who helped build this company ,,Men like My Husband!!
I am making copies of this letter and sending them to all of you and posting it on all the websites for all of those other workers to see,,I hope this does not happen to other good men out there,God Bless them and their Familys..
Thanks for nothing,,
A Bitter Wife,,:furious:
Yeah, gotta love the "FAST AND FURIOUS DRIVERS" Hey everyone, look at me I did 16 stops! 4 p/u's! where is my pat on the back, my attaboy, job well done? If you look in the men's room it's in the crapper! Everyone knows what happens to Greyhound dogs, your only as good as your last race!Well I suppose you will get faster after 24 years
As a manager once said "when you got a horse, you ride em" I replied "what happens when that horse breaks down?"
His response was "you get another horse". and laughed his *** off.
My point is to the super freight guys out there. They won't be able to do the 20 stops every day consistently as they get older.
from the looks thats whar it belongs
Answer to your question,,He left on his own after going from a full time paycheck to a part time paycheck. We never lived above our means or purchased anything we could not afford..If he could have maintained 40hrs all would have been good but that was not the case here @ 071,,Maybe if he would have milked the clock like some of them @ 071 does, and are aloud to do then maybe we would be sitting pretty too.But Golfpro"s(my husband ) motto is get in get the job done and get home to his wife and kids!!
As you may have read from Softball players post,Golfpro was a big loss to this company,
Damn shame it took this for him realize it!!
Thanks for your concern,,
Golfpro"s WIFE,,
I have a feeling you were way above your meens. You were counting on the 50-55 hour weeks all the time. Did you go get a job to help your husband out. All I know is my lifestyle would permit me being cut only one day a week. That is all your complaining about. If all that you said originally is going on then your husband should have complained and had H/R involved oh wait didnt they investigate up there? Just a few issues that I had with your post. You cannot state things on here that are false and be that obvious. I wish your husband well and good luck on his new job[/QUOT
Let"s make this clear,The 50 - 55 hours a week have been long gone at least for the past 1 1/2 to 2 years, and yet we still managed, therefor not above our meens!!and yes I had a job until we all got laid off which did not help! and either did the ECONOMY! I am not crying poor me or for people to feel sorry for us we have moved on for the better!!As far as H/R to many of the driver"s (sorry) to say didn"t speak up in (fear) of their jobs!!They too have Familes to try and support! I hope one day someone will be able to blow the whistle on 071 and get some changes in there, after all there is still some good and decent workers there!!Men who deserve better!!As far as false statments thats your opinion,go and visit or get a job@ 071 and find out the truth for yourself ! Also as for leaving a good job cause of some lost hours,,please!!,,lol,, a Family can"t live on 31-32 hours a week and maybe a rolling day off in these hard times..And if SENIORITY WAS TILL OBSERVED IN THE JOB MARKET THINGS MAY HAVE NOT BEEN THAT BAD!!!But yet they can cut hours AND STILL BE OUT THERE PURCHASING TERMINALS IN OTHER STATES !!WITH WHAT MONEY?? OOH THATS RIGHT THEY GOT IT FROM ALL THE HOURS THAT HAVE BEEN CUT FROM THE WORKER"S!!!
Remember this and it is my opinion,,It"s a numbers game and ESTES has found away to improve on it!
I do Thank You very much Mr. Turned for your well wishes on my Husband"s new job that was nice!! I do wish all the other Estes Drivers and Dock workers the best of luck!!
Before I end this ,Thank you to all of the OVER the ROAD DRIVERS out there,,I had no Idea what you all have to go thru every day of the week,,until going out on the road with my Husband on his new job last week.It was mind blowing and something I won"t forget,,So again THANK YOU !!You all deserve so much more credit then you all get,,
Best of luck and Please be SAFE!!:bye1:
Golfpro"s Wife,,,,
that's what i don't understand. sure a lot of people have had less hours. so why quit a good job just because your hours drop.
i call bullshit.
sure we can cry about 10 to 15 hours less a week but to slam the company because the USA economy went to the crapper .
this is a case of someone crying poor me
It is one thing to blow off steam it is another to jerk everyone around. I still do not buy it. I would swear it was topflight but it is to much to elvis` side of things.
