Anybody have a reasonable guess of what is going on with the clerical merging? :police
Should we panic NOW?

Ok..here is my educated guess... MOST clerical, if this is ALL they do... will be gone... Machines at RDWY will take yer job, and YRC don't have ta pay a machine. If You are RDWy, you already know how to work the machines and push the papers, whether you are union or not. Many UNION teamsters and whatever will be thrown out with the dishwater....

The key is... you only push papers, or do you do other stuff too? I do other stuff too. I'm RDWY, NON union hourly paid. I push papers, know how to use the machines, answer phone, make appts, track shipments, and dispatch, close up at night, load loads , etc.... If you are a Jack of all trades you stand a good chance of keeping yer job.. If you only do ONE THING, then NOT... I am a jack of all trades here...

BUT I still DON'T KNOW if I will have a job after March, as I know many city drivers who also push the papers, work the machines, call for appts and load trailers also at many EOL's.... and that's where I am EOL....

I work with leia, and yes, we are jack of all trades. We would just like to have an answer of whether or not the union and nonunion jobs are dovetailing or endtailing. We know that our terminal is keeping 3 clerical, and there are 3 union clerical and 2 nonunion clerical in our facility. We aren't getting any answers from the Union or the company.... Getting alot of answers in here.... Does anyone have any updates???
We would appreciate any information you may have. Thank you! :smilie_132:

Usually the non-union girls end up getting screwed. The union will push for their members to stay working and the company won't stand up for theirs.

From a reliable source? We have been told the whole time that they will endtail yet, the clerical hasn't been announced. If it is so cut and dried why don't they tell us?

non union should go to bottom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they have no senority thats how they wanted it!! most has had a chance to vote and they said NO UNION,, THE COMPANY WILL TAKE CARE OF ME.. I SAY YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT!!!!!!!!!! GOOD RIDDANCE... F EM

Reading between the lines on the info you have given me:
If you know they are to be keeping 3 clerical, and there are 5 of you, between union/nonunion RDWY & YFSY, then the 3 UNION are the ones counted as KEEPING THE JOB at yer place..... whether they are yellow or roadway doesn't matter. And if yer the UNION, and Yellow, it's not that hard to learn the RDWY computer system and machines.

There is "no change" of clerical at my place. I'm RDWY, Yellow is moving in our place. They only have a part-time billing clerk there, and this is about all she does. And last I knew Yellow farmed that job out to TEMP services years ago. And two senior (citizen) work that job. One on MON, WED and Fri, and One on Tues and Thurs , to suppliment their SS. The two billing clerks that work at our YFSY don't even work for Yellow, and this place is NOT the only terminal like this..... ( They get their pay checks thru Temp services)

So, we have been calling international everyday since Monday Feb. 2nd and everyday we are told "probably tomorrow". Now they are telling us they don't know how it will work if we want to follow our work. We are less than 3 weeks from this and we don't know WHERE our work is going, any seniority dates of the staff there, or IF we have a job right where we are.

Hmmmm, I would say you are JUST as interested in the outcome of this decision or you would stop checking this thread or my profile. I understand there are a lot of people in our boat. I have, however, not implied to anyone that they will be put out with the dishwater. I was under the assumption that this board is to look for answers and support.

HMMM... I would say... I am what I am, and know where and what I am... I AM a NON-UNION HOURLY PAID by RDWY.... I KNOW I already LOST my job at CF, in the same job and the same position.... back in 2002... I WAS NON-UNION HOULRY PAID,...and I LOST MY JOB ! Thru no rhyme or reason....

I looked at this thread to provide info, based on my PAST EXPERIENCE.... and present experience....

I have been known to speak to harse and too boldly... but this the kind of person I am. I WAS thrown out with the dishwater at least once before. I was NOT UNION. Hubby WAS UNION, with 18 years with CF. He WAS THROWN out with the dishwater. My good , good, best freind, who already LOST his JOB with CF, in 2002, is GOING TO LOSE HIS JOB AGAIN with RDWY... He's the one that gave me the phrase" THROWN OUT WITH THE DISHWATER".... He came in to work the other day, and said to me " I'm being thrown out with the dishwater..."

I'm just a realist. This is the price you pay sometimes, for living with the truth. Sometimes the truth is not so easy to accept....

I may still have a job, after 3/2009... but you bet yer buns... I am NOT counting on it, or anybody to else to keep it for me...

And this is all I am reporting... I have city drivers( from sister EOL's ) that I know from other EOL places that are doing MY JOB.... and have been for quite sometime.... And it's not like they wish to ... They just feel they have NO CHOICE... When I lost my job at CF... The city drivers wer FORCED to do my job, in order to suvive.. They did it anyway... and the company did not survive.... This is nothing new... that I am telling you....

IF YOU ARE UNION, you have a good chance of keeping yer job.... OVER THE NON UNION.... FOR NOW.... This is my life experience talking to you.... But I'm not going out and making any major purchases, like a new car or anything like that... and this is all I'm trying to tell you..... Be prepared to take care of yerself... and don;t think for one minute that anybody can be "superman" here, and SAVE YOU ! Or SAVE THE DAY !

I'm sorry you are so suspicious of me... and my intentions here.... I've already been in this place before, with CF... 2002... This is just De'JA Vu for me... OKAY?

Good post Blue mule....truth is hard for some to face at times....good luck to ALL clericals in this COO mess....KK

Good post BM.
It's unfortunate that those of us that have been through this before are chastised for relaying the truth of matters to people that are trying to find the truth but wear blinders and don't want to hear it. The last time I went through this was with RedStar amd the similarities as to what is happening in the operations of this(YRC) is paralleling to the demise of redstar. Yes there are differences in the way it is happening financially but still the same route. One MAJOR difference is that if YRC goes there will be no place for all of us to go. There will be job losses.............. mostly to a tubing economy, face it the freight levels are just not there. The trucking industry is one of the largest indicators of a bad economy. Those of us that are already laid off ,in my opinion ,unless a miracle happens in the economy are fish food and thats that. I feel bad but WTF I am in those numbers. The next wave of layoffs will probably have a better chance of getting back in about 6 to 9 months, hopefully. I'm not saying that this is right but YRC is in a survival mode and for her to survive there has to be casualties. The non- union side of this equation is in just as bad shape, with the only difference is that YRC has been very vocal in what they are doing to try and save herself.
I do not like what is going down either but wht can we do?
I only wish that the Union and Company would quit sugarcoating this whole deal and let us know what is happening. Don't tell us 5/9ths of the facts and then admit more when someone finds something out and then questions them, and they say oh yeah that's not supposed to happen till........... Put all the cards on the table, be honest with us. you came to us and asked for 10% we reluctantly gave it up, but we did our part in trying to save her.
I'm starting to get distracted , so I will end it here.
Anyone have a rope they aren't using?
