FedEx Freight | waiting on yrc's doomsday

waffleman,

i know what you are saying. we lost maybe our biggest account to holland because of them giving a 89 percent discount. now i know they cannot haul it free forever.

I do not wish their demise, but...if they are going to conduct business where they cannot make money with every shipment, then let Capitalism work and let the chip fall where they may...

{just my 2cents}

Westdriver, get 1 of your rate clerks to show you the discounts that fed ex is giving your customers. I'll bet you'll be surprized. Saia,R&L and other cutrate carriers as you say, aren't the only one's cutting rates. Fed Ex is doing just as much as the one's you've named. They have to, to survive. They know that and so do you.:smilie_132:

I know for a fact that Fedex is not discounting LTL rates just to get freight on the trucks. It has never been a practice here and never will be. Pricing is determined by a pricing department and not the sales rep like other carriers. We discount it low enough to make a profit, if we cannot make a profit, we don't haul it, period. I know this for a fact, it is indidputable.

Looking at our last shareholder report, Fedex corp had 1.5 Billion cash on hand. YRC has 1.16 Billion debt on hand. They may be disounting freight to increase revenue, but not increasing profits will catch up with them eventually.

WOW!! That is INSANE!

89% discount?!?!? I know we'll offer 82% on some accounts, but 89%!?!? That means that Holland is hauling this freight for about 35% less than we are!

Basically, they are paying the shipper to haul this freight!! :flame:

Why is this so hard to believe? Unless you know nothing about LTL Freight than you know that almost anyone can get a 60-65 percent discount, why is 88 percent in desperate times such a stretch? I will take $50 of the $100 for the lesson, thank you very much!

You know about rates as a nun knows about sex. I will keep my $50 till you have proof of that 88%. And your good source is not enough proof.

You people are missing it, they can haul it for free
Obama wont alow the teamster jobs to go away
expect YRC to get bailed out, just like the auto industries
YRC isn't going anywhere
If I'm wrong , why did fedex layoff yesterday, why will they be laying off more in the weeks to follow if there expected a 30 % increase in freight

You deserve change back on your 2 cents worth because you are absolutly right. I'm gonna give you a 89% discount on your 2 cents. Lol

mit 4064 So what boulder did you crawl out from????????????? Question marks!!!!!!!!!
Right !!!! The legal department at fed ex told the sales department to hand out the flyers to everyone !!!! Hope they included sending one to yrc's legal department!!!!!! Wow what a lifesaver that flyer is for yrc ???More question marks!!!!! Now we know how yrc will continue to operate!!! The money they will recieve in court after they win the lawsuit for deformation of character ought to cover all of their debt and then some!!!!! Fed Ex to the rescue!!!!! Wake up!!!!!!!!And if that freight was so good and worth hauling, don't you think we would have been hauling it already.
:flame: With those deformation lawsuites you really have to be careful not to get burned.:flame:

Easy now tenderfoot, maybe you should read more slowly.Where did I say I had any source at all? Im just saying its not an outrageous claim. Why is it so hard to believe that a company that is so far in the hole it would be easier just to keep digging until they hit the other side would haul freight for next to nothing.:duh::duh:

Wow I work for Holland and have never seen an 89% discount. I would be interested in what account it was. Of course we heard you got the borders account by undercuttig us by almost 2mil. That would be hauling for free.

You all ought to do what you get paid to do (SHUT UP AND DRIVE) of course with out your little girly bull **** rumor spreading sessions you could'nt get any where

"YRC has 1.16 Billion Debt on hand." If so, they're done! Just a matter of time. Impossible to recover with loan extension till the 17th in these times!

YRCW is losing over $100 million a quarter. They are running out of assets to sell. What else can they leaseback? Nothing. The clock is ticking.

:biglaugh::biglaugh: Good one! From out of no where comes Yosemite Sam!!

not if they are discussing it in their own house shoe.... people here would not be talking about it if it wasn't all over the news and the internet....

Are you referring to FedEx Freight or FedEx Corp. Theres a big difference. Each company with Fed Ex Corp. works as a different company. They have to support themselves. FedEx freight, I cannot beleive, has 1.5 billion of cash on hand.No disrespect intended!I would have to see it to believe it.FedEx freight has too much dedt to have that much liquid cash on hand. You would have to be tolally debt free to have that much.:smilie_132:
