When American Freight was purchased by Fed Ex it was all branded in no time at all, when was the last time you saw an Amerinan Freight Truck or Trailer? CCX changed to Conway it was done the same way, you don't see CCX equipment on the road do you? Why are we still driven Overnite trucks and trailers and not to mention Motor Cargo junk, its been 5-6 years. But make sure you wear that Brown Clothing with the UPS Logo and don't forget to shine your shoes, look sharp. But we still drive some pretty ruff not to mention dirty EQUIPMENT. But I did see UPS just got 450 new Macks. 0 for UPS FREIGHT. Thanks UPS for being PROUD OF YOUR FREIGHT COMPANY!!!
DING DING DING!!!!! Give this gentleman a prize, he hit the nail right on the head....
I was just thinking that same thing the other day. I have seen CCX tractors and trailers in my area, but let me tell you, it's not very often at all, very rare.
I was also thinking, how long it will take FED EX to change all their National LTL badging to just the freight badging. I remember them not taking very long to change from Watkins to Nat'l LTL.
I find it funny how how UPS is always so worried about "Brand Image" and like you said, we are still pulling around Motor Cargo/Overnite equipment. I generally drive a new International and yet still pulling around a 49 series Overnite trailer with the oxidized aluminum silver sides and rusted out ICC bar. Disgusting isn't it?
But I was also thinking, maybe they're just using any profits from just the freight side for upgrades instead of using package funds, which would make sense I guess, but when they keep posting profits from freight and we are not seeing any new equipment except a few new tractors every couple years, makes me think they are just taking the profits and running with 'em. Again would make sense, it's their company, they can do what they want and they will, but atleast wait till you have rebranded all the equipment before you do that.
It's pretty bad when I go to a customer and the door is rusted to where the door barley opens or door panels are rotted out and holes in the floor and I have to make a joke to them about it. I'll usually say in a very sarcastic joking matter: "Yeah UPS pays us so much money they can't afford better equipment." I get a laugh out of that one. Or I'll say "A multi billion dollar a QUARTER company, and they can't afford to give us better trailers."
