We're in this position because of ame bad mistakes Yellows management had made.Yellow always borrowed money. Roadway believed in being debt free.Yellow borrowed the money to buy us and USF.They over paid for USF in millions. We as Yellow Roadway Corporation had to write off around 600 million. Now that the economy has tanked how are we going to pay Dutshe bank(a German Bank that I might have spelled wrong).Freight levels dropped, money is due.Yellow Roadway asked us for a10% pay cut for the remainder of the contract.Merger of Yellow Roadway into one has taken place.Roadway management has taken over. Now anybody that has been in the freight business for a while knows Roadway knows how to run a trucking company.YRC is saving over 20 million a week with the concessions.Once they get the kinks worked out of this merger they will kick ***.Right now look on the highway what do you see at damn near every mile marker. A YRC unit.It is easy to kick a company in hard times but do not. I repeat do not let YRC get up under a Roadway management system. Our terminal manager has tol d us the first two on the hit list is is R&L and Old Dominion.I don't even think that Vitran is even on the radar. Hell, you see a Vitran truck about once or twice a week anyway.

If he would quit hanging out in the shippers office goofing off on their computer and BSing and get out on the road he would realize that we have already been there, did our job and went on down the road to the next stop. :duh::smilie_132:

The only reason that you see a YRC truck at every yard marker is because Yellow couldn't do it on their own and had to buy another company to survive in the best of times. If it wasn't for Roadway. Yellow would be gone!

We are on your hit list at R&L!!!! I can tell you, that really scares us!!!:nutkick:

You are correct about that.If it was not for Roadway, Yellow would be in big trouble.Thats why YRC is on the Roadway computer system, management system,etc.....

You have to be SH**ting me. I have never seen Y R C or any company run so poorly. The so called Roadway system is antiquated. Yellow should have spent the 10 million to have the yellow system put in place, instead of looooooooosing 10 million and some big customers. Oh well shoulda, coulda, woulda................ I will be surprised if things turn around. The downward vortex is spinning at such a fast speed it will take a miracle to pull out. I do not wish in any way for Yrc's demise butas I said it's going to take alot and if they survive they will be a force to reckon with.

No ,I'm not Sh**ting you. Roadway was doing fine until the Yellow-Roadway merger a few years ago.The problem with a company or an individual is to not borrow money. If you do borrow money never borrow so much that if something happens to the economy, your job,you can pay it back. That is what happened to Yellow when they bought us and USF. They bit of more than they could chew. Roadway now has control of the ship. They have been through a lot of hard times especially through the eighties. You remember the eighties right? When Transcon,Campbell 66,Ryder-Pie,etc went out of business. Roadway has over 50 years experience in running freight. Through the good and bad times they always MADE IT.How long has your company been around? What hard times have they ever been through? How has your company ever been tested? I'm not GOD and I can't say what will happen to any company. I do hope that YRC will make it through these rough waters. My father has had over 35 years with Roadway as a P&D driver. He started in the early 70's with a company called Western-Gillett that got bought out buy Roadway. I have been a linehaul driver for 13 years out of Memphis,Tn.I know that this company has fed me and my sister for over 30 years of my life. This is a job that all I have to do is show up and do my job and make a decent salary in a year. I don't have to fuel no truck, work no dock,or hook no trailers at a breakbuck terminal. Even with a 10% paycut life is still good for me. I hope they do make because I can not imagine working for one of these other outfits.(besides UPS)

"Roadway is now in control of the ship!"
This is what scares me. Before March change we were doing well over 250 bills per nite outbound and over 175 inbound. That's 425 bills per day. Now well into the third week of th change we do less trhan 250 bills per day on inbound and outbound together. How does the freight levels fall off that far so fast?

Roadway has over 50 years experience in running freight. Through the good and bad times they always MADE IT.How long has your company been around?

Yellow has been around just as long as roadway maybe even longer, and to tell you the truth lately I think they are as bad as Roadway. If it was my company and I was doing the change I would have thought this out a little more. I would also have asked the banks to give us more time to do it right the first time and not have it all come tumbling down.

My father has had over 35 years with Roadway as a P&D driver. He started in the early 70's with a company called Western-Gillett that got bought out buy Roadway. I have been a linehaul driver for 13 years out of Memphis,Tn.

I myself have been in trucking 36+ years. 21 of them union. I worked for USF RedStar for 15 years before the USF companies were bought out by Yellow and it was a damn good company. I heard that ( HEARSAY) Part of Yellows terms of buying USF was to have RedStar put down, because of the duplicity of service with New Penn and how successful NPMF was. Then I landed a job with Yellow. When I first came to work for Yellow I couldn't believe how efficiently She operated. Now 5 years later, due to the shear boneheaded stupidity of how "Roadway" is handeling this merger, I fear for the worst.
I hope to be as lucky as your father was to get 35 years service. But if Roadway keeps running this company the way they are ....................I'm afraid my friend neither you nor I will make that mark.

I can not imagine working for one of these other outfits.(besides UPS)
I think that maybe you had better entertain that idea, because the day Yellow decided to use the Roadway system instead of UPGRADING to the Yellow system, they made a 10.1 million dollar mistake!

I am not here to debate you, just to try and open your eyes.
Also I would like some of that Koolade you are drinking:smilie_132:
