Found out for sure today that I will be displaced, mine was pending on another associate that had health issues, he is finally getting to come back to work. So with that said, my goose is cooked!! As we all know, this is a terrible time to look for a job, so my question is, Do we have to stay until Jan 29th to qualify for the package? Like I said, My career is finished at FedEx Freight, and I woould like to pursue other intrests, but I do not want to loose what little amount of money that I am supposedly getting. Any insights?

It is my understanding, you must stay until Jan.29th to qualify for the severance. Are there any openings you can voluntarily transfer to? Some of the displaced drivers at my terminal are putting in for voluntary transfers from City to Road at other local terminals.

Couple of openings at another terminal in the city, but it falls under the 50 mile rule. It would be about a 80 mile one way trip for me. My wife has a great job, she is only 3 miles from work, so relocating is not an option for me.

I know of a few people that had to relocate from our yard to one 80 miles away. Some rent a cheap hotel room a couple of nights a week and only come home once or twice a week. Some have relay runs that essentially go at the same time every day and carpool.

Yeah, that is one heck of a commute! Luckily your wife has a decent job. GL man! Keep the shiny side up!

hotrodder, you do have to stay until the 29th to get the money. Just a suggestion to transfer and make the 80 mile commute until you can land another job. GL!

best advice is Do The Math see what works best for you if the money is not that much ans a great paying job comes up well.....
