Without getting specific, are any of your customers jumping ship? For the most part our bigger shippers seem to be still using YRC.

please remember,"brothers" we are still hiring at SAIA.COM (for future reference)

:bowdown:Yeah, that's where we are heading too!......NOT!!
I guess if you do your job, and are a threat to someone else's job, you might never go home from work. SAIA LINK, Shooting Rumor, was not a Rumor, a Boss shot an employee.:loser:

I think we got off topic. I thought I could try and use this website as it was designed. I was hoping to make contact with other P&D drivers around the country and find out what their customers are saying. We can talk about managment and how this breakbulk or that one is plugged up all day, but the real information is in what shippers are saying.
Some of the customers in my area are giving less to the combined company than they used too. Some that gave 20 skids to Yellow and 20 to Roadway are giving 40 to YRC. I have spent the last two weeks telling customers that there would be some problems, shipments running a little late, an occasional mis routed shipment. I ask them to give us until the end of the month to work out the kinks. If they make the choice or not I say these things. I think it has some impact on them. I don't think I'm saving this mess, but I'm trying to help. Everyone at my terminal is doing the same as me.

Whats going on at other end of the lines around the system?

still catching up on the I/B side as they are running anything and everything at us to get it away from their dock. Plus the issue of us being a Twins location there is some overlapping coverage areas where two drivers show for the same p/u.

Me personally its been positive more freight to deliver all within a 4 mile radius and freight we had lost is see coming back as customers haven't really noticed the change except the DR's say YRC

i would hope that all of the city guys would be doing the same. that may be all that saves this company is a good relationship with all of our customersd no matter how big or small they are.

Hey T we are keeping the customers informed as there hasn't been no real fallout. We're a twins location so my peddle has been so condensed that I'm not spread out so far
that I can make all my pick ups on time with time. Good sevice and good attitude and a "Thanks for using YRC" goes a long way building customers confidence.

Had a Averitt city guy say that the merge was a big cluster and mistake for YRC. I said mistake "look at the mistake you guyz don't see. Averritt has the TL guys picking up your LTL freight right in front of you city guys. BTW that customer made us their primary carrier again.

I tell customers that "YRC is the new flavor of the month, c'mon and get a taste of what YRC has to offer, I think you'll like it"

I've noticed fewer deliveries per driver to make sure we have people in an area for pickups. Our managers seem more concerned about bring backs. Before the merger they didn't seem to worried about them, now they want explanations.

Hey PMEJim, My apologies to you for drifting off topic earlier. My wife's uncle works in the P & D area (not my area of expertise recently, It's been about 18 years since I did P & D type work for another company, but, I can relate on the providing customer service, exceptional service motto). I haven't caught up to him to see how the local area here for him is going, since I moved out of the same building into another, following my bid around. Hopefully, you can get some more positive feedback, than negative. Good Luck!

Positive or negative, I think both have uses. Ive been trying to find out what is being said locally and it appears that most accounts will continue to use us to some degree. One showed me the tracking history of a shipment, that moved from Charlotte to Harrisburgh TWICE over the weekend, before getting to Maybrook and then Portland. He wasn't upset, he got his product. He did say that it better not happen often, or he may have to change carriers.

Good! That's the way it should have been the whole time. There are legitimate reasons for bring backs, but they should be challenged. Finger print freight is not considered legitimate!:biglaugh:

Just found out,One of our biggest in-bound accounts' freight has been sitting at our term for eight days.We lost this once b/4 to roadway and now we are going to loose it again at this rate. I only hope, if we do loose it,it's to Holland and not some outside carrier. At this rate we will be a small eol term again in no time, thats the way our mgmnt wants it so they can control and micro-manage it. Right now we are too big for micro-manage style and our t/m can't stand it.
By the way we are talking about seven to eight trailers a week to one place!!!!!
THATS A HUGE ACCOUNT FOR US

Our P&D has been extremely heavy with deliveries but few pick-ups. I think the customers might be "a little confused".

One of the city drivers told me yesterday,we have lost one account due to "zip code realignment" They ship fuel tanks for the military (you Houston boys have seen them). When it was our city freight; I unloaded them and swung them into empties. It was tall, bulky freight and you can't put anything on top. Anyway....I would normally have the freight loaded and sometimes could close out the trailer by 22:00. Down the road it would go. But now, zip code realignment gives the freight to Tallahassee, FL (737). We get this same freight loaded to us the next afternoon. It's almost a full day later and plus this big, bulky freight gets mixed in with everything else going to Jackson (455).

Every P&D driver working at a break Bulk, Regional service center or what ever we're calling them today needs to use the Break Bulk as a selling device. Freight generated from a Break Bulk can usually be processed one day quicker. Something to think about.....

It is quite nice to see a thread with a somewhat positive tone to it for a change. To you p+d drivers... keep up the good work and sell this thing to the customers. Sometimes I miss dealing with them....... ok not really!:smilie_132:
