I have been laid off,let go how ever you want to call it.I read the post here and a lot of negitave stuff.Listen if you dont want your job let me have it.Here is my world 27 years driving local ltl truckload some over the road and I can"t find work here in mich i look everyday check web sites make calls drive ask companys if there hiring I even been told to get off propertys so if you do not want to work for conway quite and let me in. I did not work my whole life to loose everything trying to make money delivering pizza;s anyway good luck guys.

Best way to find a driving job....

Go to Google and do a search for "driver""YOUR ZIP CODE". Be sure to use the quotation marks for your search.

We have plenty of the cool aid drinkers saying "well, i guess we should just be lucky to have a job".....weve been here for 20 or more years and we made this co. what it is It. could be Estes, or saia or some other turd co, but no, we worked to make it the powerhouse it is. Only to have the A**holes in A2screw us out of everything they can think of ...and you dare question our integetry.... you killed all integerty.... there is none left...You took it all....
 
Martha, The days of Con-way being the power house, i hate to say have come and gone. You are correct, the company has made bad decisions in the past, but the competition has gotten a lot stronger and closed the gap. This has lead to a lot of our down trend. The economy is as bad as any of us have ever seen, which has created the worst possible storm for us as a company. The company is just trying to survive. They are going to do this on our backs. Thats what a capitalism is all about. They are here to make money. The company has integrity and sometimes we don't always agree with it. Integrity never was meant to be sugar coated.
 
So, what do you say to the 24 year man who feels lucky to have a job..?? He worked every bit as hard as you did to build this company...But because he feels fortunate to have a job, that makes him a kool-aid drinking idiot..?? Perhaps he lives on a street where 3 out of 5 people are unemployed, his neighbors and friends for the past 10-20 years...I know if it were me, I might feel fortunate...idiot that I am, of course..

I think we can express our disgust with the current situation without having to quit over it. I hope you find a job soon, it won't be mine, though. I'm not going anywhere.

they have a yard in Taylor, Mi, and they are hiring..

Might as well. I would prefer to stay a linedriver, and, those won't exist in the very near future at "Freight" anymore.
 
He lives in Michigan which has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. Times are tough there and I personally know some people up there. The people of Michigan are quality hard working folks. They understand the value of a dollar and the hard work it takes to make it. Many people in Michigan are leaving to find work and that's a sad day for most that choice to do so.

Best of luck in your job search and remember to stand tall and be proud.

My wife works for the local school district......6% pay cut, and 10% R.I.F., effective with the new school year.......

We are awaiting written notification even now, to find out which one she will be under.....

And the hits just keep on coming...........

State level. 2 furlough days per month= 10% reduction. I wouldn't mind that @ Con-way. Maybe 1 furlough day per month. But we've probably cut our staffing back so much that it would be impossible to do.

Well, just try having two incomes from conway. That is a 10% cut in pay, 6% cut in matching 401k, and so on. Not to mention the loss of vacation which totals between the two of us 65 days of pay. Now, I would roughly figure that conway cut our income in the house by about $40,000.00 or more this year and that is including the one time hit on vacation pay. Tell me that is not a big hit. :ranting2::ranting2:

did you ask for a transfer to cfi,yes u will be on the road but u will still be working for the company that u love,,1886drive4us...but no you will not find a job doing what u were doing for freight
