fed ex is not going under, they are spending millions on gps, so they can keep track of their freight, yeah right, the real reason is to keep track of their worthless drivers that dont get the job done, looking over our shoulder, i used to like to drive truck because i had freedom, well that will soon be gone, whats next camera in your face while driving?

Get used to it, it's becoming the norm for alot of trucking companies. I'm suprised it has taken this long to get them when other big truck companies have already had them for years.

when an employer is paying you they have the right to know where you and their equipment is at all times.

The one answer that sums up all this chatter about hating the company which in turn makes you hate life.....Just quit. Find something else to do where you feel you can just do what ever you want with your own rules. If you still want to drive....Get your own truck, be your own boss and you have no one to make happy but yourself.

The saying that "The Biggest Thieves Have The Biggest Locks"....can be adapted to anything thing like " Why Worry About GPS and Big Brother If You're Doing What You're Supposed To Be Doing". Ahhh....now you actually HAVE to do it they way the company wants it done. No more playing truck driver for a decent wage. Instead of being a truck driver on TV, you have to be one in real life....The horror!!!!!

You Protest To Much. Take that energy and make the company work for you. The 401K isn't coming back for a long time, Your other little perks are on hold 'till we dig out of this mess. It's not just FedEx against YOU. You may think it is and that's another good reason to quit. Then it's just you against you.

If you get some time, reread your post and all the others where people think they deserve everything but in the same breath say they are not doing a damn thing extra till they get everything. Quite a circle eh?

Some of these posts and threads are created because there is no one who wants to listen to you and there are those who have given up listening to you so you find an out like the board here where you can talk from "Behind The Curtain".

Just get in the game, punch in....do what is expected....and punch out. All safe and sane in between.

There is a way out, Just Quit and you will have a much better quality of life than to come in here and ***** about a GPS. I bet if the company said "Here, Here is a brand new $600 GPS for you to use. Use it anytime you'd like but please make sure it's on while you're on the clock. You'd be on another company's site telling them that "your" company just gave you a GPS unit as a perk. I bet you the guys sitting at home would put a GPS in each and every pocket of their FREE uniform if it meant the could come back to work.

Two words and you'll have the best life you could possible have. "Just Quit".

Let the games begin.

Well .... I'm not going to complain about any electronic do dads that fedex puts in ...

However I would like to complain about the way it was installed ... in record time I might add ...... the hub shop got some attaboys from HRO.... :duh:

What HRO I guess did not know my tractor had to go back to the shop 3 time to fix the disaster with the broken dash, dash lights, dash gagues, headlights. and leaking roof ...I think that was common with the KW from what I saw .... ol well ... the shop guys need work also ....:smilie_132:

for those of us that are good drivers...and dont delay frieght by snoozing on the side of the road every night our hang out in truck stops flirting with some idiot behind the counter....this is a good thing(gps)... maybe they will get rid of some of the dead wieght this company has, rehire the guys that have been actually working for a living....

They can track or follow me anytime..... Guess I'll have to slow down a bit though,,, instead of getting there early......

Same here , follow me , track me , log into my gps , have a good time...

(I'll be at the strip club suckers.)

We had a meeting in STL last Mon. and they said that though it is possible to track positions live that they will not be doing that at this time anyways, the gps will take the place of the scanners on the equipment and not only let them know when you're at the yard but also update at meet and turn points.

They also said there will NOT be cameras in the truck with a big laugh.

welll im very happy for you guys, they sure have most of us brain washed into socailism, taking more freedom away everyday, they will end up taking it all in the end, sounds as if some you still need your mommies, i guess you would take the mark of the beast if they wanted you to, government, gaint corporations do what ever they want to the people and we just curl up in the fetal position and take it. we are doomed i say

fwhats next camera in your face while driving?

Yes! But seriously the gps is as much for "company protection" as anything. As you know, company's this size are getting sued on a continual basis. Now if so-and-so sue's and claim's that Fedex truck# xxxx was doing xxxxx and ran me off the road, the gps readout from that truck in court can show exactly where you were and how fast you were traveling, if at all, at any exact minute in time.

Then mr. smarty pants who tried to mess up your whole day goes to jail for perjury.

1. Socialism sucks
2. I love my mom
3. 666, number of the beast
4. Reagan Conservative's don't curl up in the fetal position

Speed?

Does the company have a problem with getting back early? I have a problem with the land of Lincolns truck speed limit..We do not have GPS yet but if I am still here when we do this would be nice to know...:smilie_132:

this really wont stop lazy city drivers from being lazy, they will just have to be lazy at a customers as opposed to the local mc donalds. What it's will eventually be used for is to enforce speed limits. Have fun road drivers, driving 55 mph in ohio. Enjoy the pay cut.

I'm not sure it's going to be a pay cut, per se, you will still get paid for the miles. You just get to spend more time away from home.

Some trucks already have camera's with voice box's that beep when you hit the shoulder, or tell you "you can take a brake". These were installed in some trucks on a trial bases about two years ago. I don't have one in my truck (thank GOD, would drive me nuts) but I know two drivers that do. I already have the Eden System (GPS) in my truck though.
