Yellow | Regarding Roadway Dispatchers Attitude...

The trail will always point back to the poor management that we have. If individuals are stealing or playing games than management has a contract and rules to deal with them. It is a 2-way street...if management plays games and you can, put paper on their butts. I think we all understand that we have game players on both sides but I have learned that it is best to focus on your job and do it to the best of your ability. You cannot control others so why have a heart attack worrying about it? Focus on your own job and you will be much happier!

Boy, if the majority of posters followed this advise, this place would look like a graveyard. Don't get me wrong, I'm just saying........

In the end.....

I hope they take the good things from Roadway and the good things from Yellow and make a great company........for example
I like roadways system if I am dispatched before midnight on saturday I get that paid ....so I might have a half a trip instead of none.
I didn't like not having my bills in the truck....which they do now.
I like Yellow's way of saying just get the freight there...not using a specific route...I prefer 301 instead of driving through all the traffic around washington and baltimore........
I am sure they will put something on the Haz-Mat bills before long that way you can find the bill right away when pulled over for an inspection....
Theses are small things that have nothing to do with how a man's attitude is or what he thinks he is owed by Yellow or Roadway...as stated before you got crybabies and thieves everywhere you go in this industry and I am sure the guys crying and the thieves would be the guys crying the loudest if this company went under.....:smilie_132:
I have seen at my terminal Yellow used to give them alot of rope..stealing time....crying.....dragging their feet.......but they did that because when they closed that noose no one not even the good lord himself could get your job back......I have enough trouble keeping up with myself and prefer to mind my own business and when the hammer falls on theses people I have no sympathy:nutkick:
ASK ANY MAN AT YELLOW WHO CLIFF S IS AND I PROMISE YOU THEY ALL KNOW HIM.....

Hey Mustangfan just ask your dispatcher to initial your manually written route change. I know they are doing this when there is a practical reason. For other than a convenience reason, they will change your trip routing to an alternate routing giving you the paid miles difference. There are sometimes different routes, the system lists them like this as I recollect from the last time I got to work. 342-218-01 or 342-218-02 or 342-218-03.

I hope they take the good things from Roadway and the good things from Yellow and make a great company

This would be a good plan. Keep your fingers crossed. And I'm sorry, I never heard of Cliff S. But I was only at Yellow for 30 years.

in charge of security for the Lancaster region......fired many many a men ....for stealing time, for stealing freight and for various other things...he introduced himself to me one time and he asked me who I was and I said....."oh you don't know who I am" he said" no" and I was like good and walked away lol:biglaugh:

Yeah, it sounds like that was the best thing for you. From everything I have read on here, there are two places that I'm glad I know very little about, Lancaster and Winston-Salem.

Don't pretend that the "former Yellow guys" are the only ones in this system who take advantage. I have seen people from both Yellow and Roadway doing things that would be grounds for disciplinary action and brag about getting away with it. It seems as though you may just have a small chip on your shoulder about the merger. The bottom line is there are men who act like boys no matter where you go. We all need to stick together and do our best. Whatever management is going to do is entirely out of our hands.

Great post.

First - I have witnessed some pretty :shit:ty behavior by former Yellow drivers at our terminal - cussing in the window will get you NOWHERE!

second - do not call the office 30 times a day asking where you are at on the board... use the board update.. and if it has not been updated recently - REQUEST THAT IT IS...

THIRD - in regrads to haz mat loads...

our people are busy trying to figure things out - only to have 3 yellow guys standing in the window asking what placcards they need!

YOU have the hax mat endorsement on YOUR license - YOU are the truck driver!!! You mean to tell me yellow guys have the endorsement but do not know what placards they need???

YOU never learned the haz mat tables - yet you took the test and are supposed to be certified and legal to haul hazmat???

JESUS guys - step up and LIVE UP to what you are supposed to be... do not use dispatch as a crutch!

The old Roadway dispatchers will not put up with that!

and all you will wind up doing is pissing all of the office people off (which means problems for you down the road)

LOOK AT YOUR BILLS _ AND FIGURE IT OUT _ IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! - AND LEAVE THE DISPATCHERS ALONE SO THEY CAN GET OTHERS ROLLING!!!
:flame:

OK...Now I speak.....First of all...the call-board updates are NOT being maintained by the "Ol Roadway Dispatchers" here....the "Ol Yellow" Dispatchers" are the only voices I hear on there....when they are on duty....they very seldom update it...then ***** when the drivers who have sat by for 2-4 days call in to find out their status....here is an idea....KEEP THE DAMNED THING UPDATED EACH CALL-BLOCK...that is what it was made for in the first place!

Second...and one that just burns my ***!....THE LOADS ARE TO BE PLACARD WHEN THEY ARE CLOSED OUT AND PUT ON THE YARD!....IT IS AN OSHA & DOT REQUIREMENT....IT IS NOT TO BE PUT ON THE YARD WITHOUT PLACARDS PERIOD....SO MAKE SURE IT IS DONE...IT IS YOUR JOB...NOT THE ROAD DRIVER'S....WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT TO GIVE UP? Next they will want all roadrivers to hook their own sets and do away with the Hostler jobs!

OK...I am going to go and eat breakfast.....KK

I drive for ups frt,(unfortunately) wish it was overnite. but anyway, kk is right. When hazmat is loaded or unloaded its the docks job to placard or unplacard the trailer. The driver is to make sure what if any are needed.

testpilot - I am a driver - not a dispatcher - and as far as wanting things to work - I do...

but this is the exact attitude I am seeing that is not helpig anything -

no one here has or is entitled to anything - ZERO!

know your job - DO YOUR JOB

Holy ::shit::! You sound just like all the other Roadway guys I work with. :ranting2:

In the old Yellow way the computer told us (Dock) what placards to put on trailer. At that point we would put the right placards on the trailer.:shift:
NEW IMPROVED Roadway way tells us nothing. Most of the time it's not even written on the sheet.:TR10driving03:
Old Yellow System printed the sheet with the right Haz Info on it automatically.
BTW remember the best way to defeat a UNION is DIVIDE and CONQUER.
Give the MEster A Better Load, Truck, More Overtime,Ect they will turn on a dime.:hide: under bosses desk
Start letter writting campain to **** off the rest then you have the infighting we have now.:mfight::Duel:

WOOOOHOOOO I love this Guy:biglaugh::biglaugh: Luv Ya KK
Ready to start the Campain anytime your ready

Ultimate responsibilit falls on the driver period...if he gets pulled over by d.o.t..he gets the ticket, just like if he was over weight...

You voted yes as a union for concessions stop bickeering and fighting about it, and stop tryn to screw the company..ur screwing urselves...and the competition is laughing ...

Its not us against them, its a collaboration and if your attitudes dont change fast.. U alone will be responsible for this companies demise.

Do your job . Why is that so hard....remember u applied here, they didnt go to u..if u dont like it leave...

If u would rather be miserable and spread ur infectious behavior this company will have no chance of survival

lazy

The trailer should be placarded before it is pulled off the dock. Why should we have to waste time going back upstairs because the trailer isn't placarded? Roadway dispatching sucks, their first in first out policy, takes a dump on drivers seniority!

I agree with you there - it SHOULD be placarded prior to moving away from dock ...

my point was that I was amazed at how many of our guys do not know basic Haz Mat laws / drivers requirements.

(and then to stand in the window and log jam the dispatch office with questions like

"I have 7000 lbs of flammable - do I need placards???"

while the rest of us are trying to get on our way)

Since my original post - things have gotten better at 241 - and a few that were really showing their tails have acclimated and become part of the team (instead of doom saying and working against the goals we all have).

Roadway dispatchers need to learn that we work for YRC. They try to steel a click when ever they can. They have most of the roadway drivers willing to work for what they want to pay them, not what they are owed. That will not work with most of us union drivers. And haz-mat loads by law must have placards put on at the dock when needed, not sit in the yard until a driver gets to the units. But someone as smart as you already knows this!! Its not that we don't know the rules, we don't want to steel the work from our brothers and sisters on the dock.
