Can someone give me some info, salary, etc. on the company?? I'm in Tampa, FL. Wondering about the terminal here and the company in general. Is Saia a good company to work FOR? I've done line haul and city.

Thanks

I hired in as a linehaul driver some 13 years ago. I don't have any complaints. I don't remember how long it takes to make top pay, I guess 18 months. Top linehaul pay is .53 cents per mile and $21.05 per hour. 401K is ok. The company suspended the match for now. We have medical, dental, vision benefits which costs around $38 per week for a family.

Yes,If money and benefits are what you are looking for.You will only be a number here but work ethic means more than senority.Linehaul is the only way to go.No one asking why you are behind every 10 minutes when the trailors are loaded incorrectly.Show up on time, come back on time and hope you never have to call central.

This is a great co. to work for. I wa in Ca. and worked for Saia for 6 yrs., would still be with them but I needed to transfer to Wa. and they had nothing for me. Their med insurance leaves a lot of room for improvement but as long as your healty and dont need a lot of medical attention. it a cheap weekly deduction. Other than that you wont regret it!

I just applied for a linehaul job in Cleveland OH, can I get info on how your linehaul works. Is it out and back the same night usually or are you generally gone for a day or two?

Depends on the run. System drivers can spend the whole week out, where are bid drivers will only spend one night out at most. When I was a system driver it would vary. Some weeks I would turn, others I would stay out. Now I am home every morning.

The company USE TO BE a great company to work for. Back when Mr Saia owned and operated it. But now your nothing no more than a number. I dont work there anymore, was linehaul city driver you name it. In the city your harrassed by supervisors of all levels. And I worked at ATL,CBS and JAX there all the same. I was linehaul driver and its a little bit easier but then your considered a second class citizen within the company. The benefits are good, the pay use to be good but now they have all taken a paycut and its not over yet there is still more to come. So until your on the outside looking back in the company looks excellent (LOL) but they do and will stab you in the back at any chance they get.
So take anyway you want. So you can take candied coated or take the whole lemon and swallow. :eck13:

I will be nice and not add to it but PLEASE read the 3rd from the last sentence. They will stab you in the back while smiling in your face. But what the heck? ALL the trucking companies are doing that also. We have let it become a standard of living in today's world, and didn't even see it coming. So if you don't mind being a disposable number go ahead and work for them. Or any other trucking company. When shippers complain about service, drivers are replaced.

yes that might be true to some extent, but not all companies do this and go to the extent this company does and will. If anyone on here knows drivers who have either left this company on their own will or forced talk to them. I still have alot of friends who work for this company and they want say it loud but they hate it. They might as well put a number on your back and change the uniform to black and white stripes. I was told when I worked the city when I take my lunch I dont have to take a whole 30 mins at one time I can take 5 mins here 5 mins there or eat while driving. Now thats just the tip of the ice berg:TR10driving03:

instead of starting a new thread I thought I would just add to this one since its the same subject.

I've just applied for Saia in Boise, ID as a local driver. Just curious as to what type of equipment do they run? trucks, trans, gps, that kinda stuff.

Thanks

gps, whats that:biglaugh: just depends on the location everyone is different, depends on what kind of equipment they picked up from the buyout of clark brothers.
