Any Red Sovine fans left out there? I know his stuff is old and outdated but I still love his old tunes like "Teddy Bear" and "Truck Driven Son of a Gun". I used to play one of his old songs to my daughter called "Daddy's Girl" when she was little, now she's grown and she is still fond of it. She told me she would listen to it when I was gone out on the road.

Here is one of my favorites because my first truck was a old Mack, unit number 309.

Truckin' Music

Red Sovine is great. My Dad used to listen to him all the time.

Dave Dudley is another one.

You can't forget CW McCall.

Others are Jerry Reed, Joe Stampley, Garth Brooks has a trucking song I believe.

Here is a link to some of the greats. Truck Drivin' Music

Man, did that bring back memories. Did you notice the Red Ball truck in one of the pictures. That might have been me.:biglaugh: I did work for them from '78 till we shut down.My first was a B model Mack, 2 stick with floater. No power steering, no A/C. Learn to shift the 2 rods with both hands and using my left leg to hold the steering wheel. Hauled onions out of the Valley in south Texas to Chicago. Return haul was cow hides from Chi to OKC.Didn't have a problem with tailgating with those hides on either. Man, did they stink. Thanks for the memories KD.

i like dave dudleys there aint no easy run......listen to all the truck lines he sings about...then think which ones are still here....still like widowmaker....on shifting the old duplex macks...i would run my left arm through steering wheel to grab the stick...right hand on the other and steer at the same time...the guy that wrote teddy bear was a southeastern driver....banjo music through the gorge was always fun...with a big ole cigar...

I have Red's greatest hits. I listen t them every chance I get. I'm only 38 but it reminds of when I was a little boy and would see all them freight haulers running up and down I-70. I also picked up a really cool CD of trucker tunes put out on the Gusto label. It has a little bit of everything. Also really cool.

Deisel

Did you happen to notice the price of deisel fuel. $4.34 per gallon. That was another good one KD. Keep'em comin'.:shift:

Good thread King. Red sovine, Dave dudley, Red Simpson were all my heros when I was growing up. My friends thought I was nuts. Shoot any old country or even rock (50's, 60's) is still what I listen to thanks to sattelite radio.

How about Willin by Little Feat.

YouTube - Little Feat - Willin' - 07/20/95

"I've been from Tuscon to Tucumcari

Tehachapi to Tonapah

Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made

Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed"

Willin' - the true "Chicken Hauler" anthem!

I still don't even know what "Donner's Pass" looks like- I never crossed it, I was always way too heavy and had to take the Outlaw route... Good times. Back when truckin' was fun.

Here's another new one- but a good one:

Here's The Roadhammers - "Hammer Going Down"

YouTube - Hammer Going Down

Heck of a thread KD!

Hey it sure is nice to see all you guys that still love these old truckn songs, glad ya'll like this thread.

I had 'nt thought about that song "Willin" from Little Feat in a long time, good one! There were several songs they did I liked.

Can't have a truckin music thread without this one from our old hippie days!

I love this one because some of my best memories are from my heavy hauling days, I still love seeing those big loads on the road. Might get back into it one day who knows.

Music here is by Aaron and Dale Watson. Song is called "Diesel Driving Daddy"
