Yellow | 681/653 Thread

Well thats some good news for our Charlotte area .We do alot of bussiness with them. The 681 term also got a couple of big accounts with lots of freight .I dont want to name them on this site but its good news for both terminals . Hang in their guys its not all bad .

I'd like to know if everyone else is working mandatory OT everyday whether there is work to justify it or not.....653's management is forcing all shifts to work mandatory O/T EVERYDAY, whether there are 100 trucks or 1 truck there to work....some instances in the past week where there was 6 guys working in a trailer, or standing around "waiting" for the next trailer to arrive, all while on forced O/T. Our terminal is literally "wasting" millions of $$$$ of company money on this practice, and when questioned as to why, they quote "we're only doing what we're told"....countless grievances against O/T abuse, letters to the Governors office can't stop it....the puzzling thing is, we continue to lay people off every week, and then work any laid off man who wants to work, 50 hours a week with daily set up times.....the company is NOT SAVING A DIME by continuing this destructive practice......all they've done is layoff half the workforce, and now work them whenever, and however they want.....

maybe the plan is to pay some of the overtime bill with bailout money....

What happened at 681 today? I heard the TM got his ***** whopped in his office by some dude that used to work there........ Something about a car the TM tried to steal or something

Tell your TM 681 that you know who got the car back anyway. He'll love it as much as he loves his new look.... LMFAO!!!!!

We may have to change the title of this thread to just 653. Rumor is another COO is coming in June to close 681. We'll just have to wait and see.............DS.

I can see that...... 107 P&D between both locations before March the 1st....... 62 Bid for 681........ 40 bid for 653 Now 3 months later 681 is working 20 P&D and 653 is working about
17..........Boy thats quite a bit of freight gone.......

203 Linehaul working at 653, 33 at 681, and about 90 from 671 with the March 1 COC, thats like 326 now 3 months later
653 probably has 150 on and 681 about 10......... Big drop

Dock same thing more then half gone........ Both locations....
Only question is, Will 653 have the room??

will probably lose some doors after this next coo as we wont be loading to closed term.so that would open doors for local bay

im not real sure about the number being closed ,that plus the 2 we load to 671.
just went and looked at the coo the jeff posted and id say about 18 direct loaders but not real sure plus the 2 dooirs for you guys

Guys, we have the coo paperwork for June, and there are no plans to combine the 2 terminals, THOUGH, it would make perfect sense, and yes, we'd have the room, easily.....got the word yesterday of more layoffs this weekend, it's up to Buffet to decide how many...

Well that will take care of the one list issue that we've had. But how many would be working after this is done. CNC had 150 or so on the list before the change 90 brought in and 11 went to 681 that's 229 and we now have 143 on bids. What the F!

laid off another 3 guys today (supposed to be 5, but took into account 2 guys retiring) thanks for the favor Buffet.....also word on the slab is management cuts today as well (5) ....we'll see, heard that before too....

in 1992 during strike(hope year is rite) i was chief guard house man sinc i was physically unable to load, hostle or hook. i had good relationship with union employees & they wud bring me coffee & doughnuts. we wud talk & at 1st they were prepared to strike till doomsday. finally after 3 weeks i believe they wud have signed for minimum wage. the poor fellows were getting hardly nothing from union. the attendance declined every day until i had to go get my coffee & donuts, plus we had some line drivers & prob slabbers sneeking to carolina frt for work(carolina was allowed to run to keep them from going broke). assoc transport was allowed same in strike i guess 1969 or close. immed they both went bankrupt after strike. what im trying to say alot of things r simular here. prepare for worst pray for best. tks nw bring me coffee & donut. good luck

First....Jack, get off this thread with your irrelevent, misspelled nonsense.....nobody cares who got you coffee and donuts back in 1892.....Second......it looks to be confirmed that 681 (charlotte city op.) will indeed be closing, and merging with the break operation at 653 sometime in July in a mini regional change after the national coo is done in June....

No other information such as bids, job cuts or recalls is available at this time.....as more info becomes available, it will be posted right here......g

There will be more job cuts I'm sure of it , but in the long run this will give us more jobs.If its not to late to fix the damage done to our customer base. This was sooo stupid from day one.:TR10driving03:

You guys realize that alot of our remaining customers don't even realize that roadway and yellow even merged. Friend of mine made a pick up in the city and they have 2 skids for roadway and 3 skids for yellow. Maybe a 30 sec national commercial about the merger might help to some degree. I truley think a monkey could have done this merger a little smoother. How do you think the customers felt when they weren't even important enough to be told about the mereger? I would have left too.
Still waiting to get called back to full time status. Would you part time Laid off board dummies quit keeping me out of work please. Thanks:eck13:
