Yellow | 681/653 Thread

on teamters site hoffa jr said he was not giving away NMFA. does this mean hes giving 50% or 25%? i dont feel like teamsters members are being informed enough i hope something is not being withheld. personally i feel like there is no possible way to pull YRC out with economy as it is. i pray im wrong.

I plan to vote against the pension deferral unless some upper Management (Area Directors and above) get cut. If They suggest that we take any other concessions I will be with drawing from the Union. What do we need them for if we have nothing left.
I may be biased on this but I still feel that there is too much management at both 653, 681 and the district.

Here's a thought......get the upper management out in the street and sell what we have to offer. Do away with salaries and pay them based on performance and sales. That should separate the freight men from the "yes" men. DS.

when i retired at 62 i had to pay my insurance(high in 2002), pension u wud laugh at, 2 watches prob worth 100 between them, my picture in company magazine for 44 trucking yrs service & a book about yellow(not combined then) & 2 plaques. now that is what u call a royal s-r-w-n-. maybe this will make u feel better. tks

2 Supervisiors gone at 681

They let Dave M who was the inbound planner and worked in dispatch before that go (16 years) Was one of the few who knew what was going on. Shame to see him go...... The other one was Keith, Came over from Yellow back in March worked in dispatch Don't know how long he was with the company prior to that.

Keith had been with Yellow at least 5 years, and he also knew what was going on. It seems that they almost always get rid of the ones that do the job and keep the ones that can't. I heard that Dave was a good one and am sorry to see both go, as I can think of many others that should have gone before them... It seems as though they are weeding out any supv. that don't think the way upper mang. wants them too, if they have an independant thought at all they are gone. This shows you how Buffet Bob and the boys are insecure and scared that someone else may be able to get the job done without them. Jim N at 681 will do whatever Buffet Bob tells him and sucks his (;) whenever he gets a chance. We need to rid ourselves of these tpe and get some that will and can think and do for themselves, (we have them but they are not being let do the jobs that they are being paid to do)..

Yea most of the Ex Yellow men had good things to say about Keith, The Ex Roadway men didn't get enough time to form an opinion........ But as you said Rico they always let the ones go who know anything or get along with the teamster workforce........

hear there is a list of all who will be axed at 681. But they say that james n will have a job created for him got to keep a yes man. Not many survive the storm but dave and keith were both good and shouldnt have been let go . Rico your right about the reason.

Anyone on layoff needs to call their BA and make sure their job is protected when the move happens
Good advice devilfan.

As far as upper management goes it's defiantly the 'good old boy network'. As one manager told me one time "we are thick as thieves" They will take care of the yes men at all costs. Anyone that moves against the grain will be dealt with accordingly.

Does anyone know what happened to Jim L? He was a top district guy but haven't seen or heard from him lately. Didn't know if he was fed to the wolves or not. DS.

DS, Jim L is still around as well as the Buffet, I'm sure they are the two who are behind these rediculous layoffs and recalls every week, just to make everyones lives more difficult....What happened to you by the way, did you take an early retirement? Haven't seen you in months, everyone else has been working steady, laid off or not....It's been nothing but a roller coaster here....one week we call back, the next week we lay off, then the next week we call back, then the next week we lay off and on and on....still no major cuts in management yet, apparently this company feels they can save more money by cutting the $20. an hour jobs....and as usual, we're all waiting to hear about the next major screw job concession deal.....g

Hey G Man............It hasn't been that long!! LOL no early retirement for me. Yea I miss you guys too. Last week that I worked, Rusty drafted me every day and turned me on 9 hours. I fell asleep driving home on my Thursday. I then decided it would be better for me to wait until I get called back full time. It's the best job I've ever had but it's no good for my family (or anyone else's) if I fall asleep coming home.

Has YRC produced the merged seniority list for 681/653 yet? We should have had one all along!! If you get it email it to me, thanks...........DS.

I used to hit the first rest area on the way home and sleep til I woke up. THEN I'd finish the trip home.

Can someone here on the boards please explain to me what the company accomplishes by laying off then putting the same men back on like this?

I can't find a financial gain with this practice. The same men you laid off last week are getting 40+ hours this week. Sheesh!! DS.
