I was assigned another truck and found it in horrible condition and dirty as h*** so as with every truck i go through it and get it and fixed up shiny and smelling...like smoke inside lol :shift:
One problem i noticed right away was excessive play in the front end, im talking 'OMG that trucker must be drunk' zigzaging allover the road loose, so i brought it in to the ATL shop twice without result...
They told me there was nothing wrong with it as if i was an idiot, the second time they didnt even want to look at it telling me 'we heard that one before' but they did check it after i insisted and they held my truck there for days only to do a shade tree alignment with a measuring tape!!! Neither time did they find the cause of the excessive play or even verified that there was excessive play and treated me like i was stupid and full of it:ranting2:
Im no Einstein but i did take 2 years of full time classes in auto mechanics and am ASE certified....
SO i brought this truck to every shop i laid over at with a near identical write up in the hope to get it fixed with the same complaint.
This time in CLT i wrote:' excessive play in steering- maybe gearbox needs adjustment'
Guess what- clt shop found the ORIGINAL steering gear box to have excessive play and since these cant be adjusted -must be replaced! Hallelujah!!!
ATL shop thinks theyre all that but for diagnostics- PAH! I could really let off a rant here because i was forced to drive a truck i knew had a front end problems apart from another dot violation ATL WROTE FIXED ON THE VCR BUT DID NOTHING. Also when the do fix something half the time they do not leave a vcr in the truck so i know if and what was done so that i can check during my pretrip. And if i dare bother them to ask what they found and repaired i get short replies and odd looks as they walk away from me.
Something has to get better there. Also i think there needs to be a system implemented where drivers notes can be tracked and revieved by drivers+ management and somehow get drivers to be more ontop of getting trucks fixed even if they are not thier assigned units. I can hardly believe some of the things i found on trucks and trailers on the ready line.:TR10driving03:
But ill be nice and not get too critical in an public setting.

One,

We are checking into this area of concern. We never want equipment on the road, that not only passes but will exceed regulations, and laws. It will be addressed and fixed.

Thanks

 I'm glad you got it taken care of One. And you get bonus points for not being afraid to speak you peace.

CLT and GBO have the best shop guys from my experiences.

If I may say, Stewart in the Roanoke shop was the best damned wrenchturner I ever came across. You could tell him what was wrong and he would fix it right the first time. Whatever he makes is not enough for his experience.........Hooty out.
