I have a small box being shipped ground. I know from experience that I'm last on the line and the box won't get here until dark. I'd love to have my package before then, also save a poor delivery guy's leg from my elderly doberman's gums....er... teeth.

I call and say I want to pick up package at terminal since I'm going to be in town most of the day.

Nope. Nada. Zilch.

Any particular reason why? I can show all kinds of information and license in order to pick up. Or is this because the shipper didn't specify pick up by customer?

Thanks!

SORRY.....

Your on the wrong site ...this is Freight ...... not Ground .... You need to ask them ....:1036316054:

Call back and ask for a supervisor and tell him you want to pick it up at the terminal. If you get the run around let me know and I can take care of this for you.

What?? I took the wrong turn?? Again?? oops....learned it from my Conway hubby... hehehe...:biglaugh::biglaugh:

Thank you Top Flight! A little bit late to do anything about it? If it's going to take money from a driver's pocket then I don't want to pick it up, let them get that extra $$$

Now, let me reverse and find that fork in the road. I shoulda turned left.... never trust a Conway driver's directions LOL!!

Pssstt... hubby's terminal is less than quarter mile from ground and he's good buddies with the linehaul at Fedex. I bet he could run by tomorrow and pick it for me??

Ok, they aggravate each other during linehaul. Those darn Fedex drivers have aggravated my poor hubby. He's so sweet and too innocent for that!! *blink blink* :biglaugh:

I called and asked the same question to ground once. I was told that unless the shipper calls and tells them to hold it they have to try to deliver it. If the shipper calls they will hold it at the terminal but they would charge a fee for changing the origional delivery instructions. Once they attemped delivery and no one was home to sign for it, then I could call the number and they will hold it for the evening for me to come pickup. If I didn't pick it up by the time they "closed" then it would go back out for delivery the next day.

These are just my experiences with ground maybe yours will be different

Thank you! Just thought I'd get my package faster and save someone a trip. :bananapowerslide: NOT that I'm impatient you understand.... :biglaugh:

I've been through this with UPS, they told me that a shipment is a contract between the shipper and the agent and they must make an attempt.

roog

I must have more pull than I thought......The last package I got from UPS was to be delivered to my home and was hand delivered to me at our FXN yard. (UPS is next door)

Did I mention my wife has cared for the Top Dogs Children (all 3) at our daycare for years....LOL:biglaugh::clap:

If this box you are looking for is going to a residential address
it will more than likely be delivered by FedEx Home Delivery (division of Ground) and not Ground that is business to business.
Home Delivery works and delivers on Saturdays and are closed on Mondays.
If you have a tracking number then you should be able to know when to expect them at your house.

All I'm saying is can you imagine if FedEx or UPS pulled everyone's package off the belt that called and wanted to pick it up at the station? Uh hey Bobby, Mrs Rosenbloom just called and wants to shut down the whole morning sort operation so we can get her little dog Fluffy's chicken liver bacon flavored chew toy.....ring ring.....Hey Bobby, Mr Burpnslobber just called and wants to know if we can hold his brother-in-laws cousins truck bumper....ring ring....Hey Bobby..........you get the idea. It would be a CF of enormous proportions if they pulled everyone's package off the truck or wherever that wanted to pick it up in person. So, it's easier to just slam it all on a truck and say sorry but you are SOL.

I called way before the package got to my town. As a matter of fact, it's taking 3 business days to get to me and the town itself is just 6 hours away. I do understand why it takes longer to get me.

And I do understand the order of delivery and I don't see the need to remove the package from the delivery truck itself so that's why I called way head of time before it ever hit my town. I really thought that I was going to save someone a trip since my home is way off the beaten track of any business. That and save my toothless doberman a heartattack LOL!!!

Next time just throw everyone for a loop
and have the box delivered to the service center
where your hubby works at.

*evil laff* Don't give me ideas, my hubby already has most of his hair pulled out :biglaugh:

I work from home on my computer and make good money at it. The box is a new monitor for my *new* refurbish computer I bought, total upgrade from this computer and I was needing to get everything set up, stuff downloaded and get used to the new comp before my days off are over.

I'm easy to please (hubby doesn't think so tho). Not diamonds (altho they are nice), not new expensive clothes (I buy only when I need) but GIVE ME BOOKS AND A COMPUTER OR ELSE!! :ranting2: Then slowwwwwly step back while I undetonate... :Flame-On:

Say what if I show up at the dock at 6 am whining and causing problems?? LOL!! You'll probably read about THAT on this board from some poor harrassed driver!
