Yellow | The Union

We give them dues toward our pensions and they make it disappear.

Union dues are for everyday operation of the union not for pensionfund. Company pays into pensionfund. Contractual.

All I am saying.....

When brilliant seers like yourself remind me to remember where I heard their prophetic pronouncements, I feel so much better. On the other hand, I don't have time to catalog every prediction in my limited memory. So, in spite of your self righteous importance, please forgive me if I have already forgotten where I heard whatever it is that you said.

I, just like so many others, hope to collect a pension someday. You were there once, man. This could affect you too. When it does I am sure you will sing a different tune instead of sarcasm.

I'm stupid, I know. I read something and then I'm told I didn't read what I read. We were all informed by you that you know the future and that we must remember where we read what it will be.

you and i are a commodity to be exploited for revenue. union or company, the difference is the scale, not the fact that we are a production unit. for the union, we produce dues revenue. told straight up by elected union officals at international level, that was my situation, right, wrong, did not matter, only that revenue was maintained.

hey stroud120, you forgot to mention how quick they were to show their solidarity, by taking the cut along with us...

Hey Bro I have one question for you.How many times did you take a pay cut when some other members in your local had to and you were making top rate? I have heard some of my brothers here at my barn make the same coment but when I ask them the same not one can put their hands up and say they would do that. Also should every memeber in the local also take a cut because we had to.Think about that for a minute and I'm sure you will understand that what you said makes no sence.

well bro, in response to your kind words, let me say this... first of all, not once in all my years as a teamster, was i, or any of my brothers, or sisters, ever asked to vote on a pay cut. a freeze, yes, pay cut, never! you see, all the brothers, and sisters, that came before us fought way too hard to gain rights, and a better living wage for you, and me, and everyone else for me to ever even consider besmirching their memories by voting for such a rotten deal. don't know you, but from the tone of your response, brings to mind guys i've come across over the years. worked for one outfit, never had to work the strike line, never had to lose food on the table to feed your kids because you lost a job trying to organize a barn. oh yeah, lest i forget, you ever work where your brothers were gettin' shot at, and beaten to death just trying to make a living? yeah, i thought not, come see me when you get some real life experience, bro...

Also if you are a freight member you should know that there have been manny companies in the past that have had to take a pay cut such as PIE,Halls,St.J to mention a few.

My Dad told ANR to shove a give back years ago. He told them "you are going to go broke anyways so I am going to keep mine." But they weren't in this economic climate we are in either. Were we played? It makes my head hurt to think about it.
