Does anybody have a quick fix for the obnoxious whistling noise from these new KW's with the white, plastic, mirror covers?? Sure would make driving more enjoyable...:shift:

No, but I used to drive one of the older KW's and it had a defect with the top ferring, it would beat the top of the cab at highway speeds, I couldn't even hear the radio, I wanted to drive that truck off a cliff!! I finally crawled up there and stuffed a towel between the cab and ferring to stop it, maybe do something like that, with tape, or a thin rag, to cover the space between the cover and the mirror. Air passing through that space is probably whats causing the wistle, it sounds very annoying!!

Yes, the whistling noise you hear is from the mirrors. This is from the air passing between the white forward cover and the black back cover. Where the two covers join together. On the truck facing side of the mirror, the black cover sticks out just far enough to catch the wind.
I ripped a thin strip of black duct tape and covered this joint. No more whistle.
Ya not company approved but at least you can keep your sanity.

Make sure its not your front windsheild ...the rubber comes lose ...really it does ..check the right side first ... and I know the mirrors do whistle ....I lower the window a little more and it stops ?????

Familyman, you should try the super single drive tires, those have got to be the loudest freaking tires in the world. :-/

Back when I had a T800 I went around with electrical tape and sealed it up, that works well along with the other suggestions.

This worked! Thanks Jinx!

Moderator, you should post this as a sticky for all those with newer KW's!
Just a strip of black electrical tape or some duct tape over the seam of the two covers WORKS!!! What a huge difference!

We are not based out of California anymore.
So there is no excuse why they can't buy you a brand new truck,
instead of waiting on the one year old hand me downs.:hysterical:

:shift::shift:

Those new trucks are going to be sent to the Centers that are putting the most miles on them,CHI & FRO,Where they are Slip Seating the Drivers & Putting almost 1100 mile a day on Them

Hmmm.......

HRO has a run thats under 400 miles a night .... and it gets a brand new truck .....often.....

no city driver, no slip seat, no nothing ....:shift: ...FYI

We have several new 08 and 07 volvos that run a 90 mile shuttle run each night. That is 90 miles for the round, 45 each way. My 08 international , which I have been driving since nov 07, just hit 117k miles on my 137 mile each way shuttle run.

I like my old truck, sadly I'm sure they are going to take it away soon and then who knows what I'll get. Ran into a driver that has a tractor that is 10 numbers away from mine and he had at that time 8k difference in mileage, said they told him that he was putting too many miles on it and they were taking it and replacing it with a 101** KW.

yes, a very quick fix was to run some electrical tape between the seem of the white and black part.....more permanent fix is to run a bead of sealant around it....
