According to my pay stub......I've donated enough bonus money for several of the new hires. Oh shoot. That's right, I'm supposed to be happy that I still have a job.:regretful:

One reason for the bonus is because truckload carriers have the worst turnover in the industry. I have also heard that several Yellow-Roadway guys went there because they were laid off, only to quit at Glen Moore because the conditions are so terrible there.

Just heard we are hiring 4 hour dock people because the laid off won't come in for 4 hrs.let the madness begin.bye, bye full time dock work.

Some of us tried to warn everyone that this would happen. Even if the laid off guys hold out for an 8 hour call, they will just bring in some folks off the street that will accept a 4 hour shift. Like I said before, this 4 hour language was put in there for a reason......to eliminate full time jobs!

Seems to be the normal pattern. YRC driver's will get laid off, head to GM realize they have entered a different world.. Then quit or hope for call back.
In the meantime GM recruiting dept will incure expenses, dispatchers will be pulling their hair out and in a couple of months they wont hire laid off YRC drivers, becuase of cost and time lossed.

A few years back when YRC took Glen Moore there was an agreement with the union that G/M drivers would became teamsters . What ever happen with that? I do remember that very clearly .

The "Dream Act" didn't get passed, that's what happened.

When I was still worken I had to switch a trailer at Mobil Oil , Cicero . Glen Moore took most of that work away straight loads from Yellow and I had a conversation with the G/M driver and he said that they were going in the teamsters , some kinda of agreement between the company and the union .

my best guess at this was it was right before the first giveback. If you worked at GM would you vote to become teamsters, to give back? If I was them I would not
