FedEx Freight | US Express getting more runs?

i found out today that the reason there putting on more us express vans is fedex wants one purchase company to haul the freight, there going to get rid of all the others like barrnunn, crst, freight fowarders, ect.there putting more us express vans to release all other purchase companys thats hauling our freight. i hope i explained this correctly for every one i need some sleep.

From what I see they will be needing a lot more than 200 purchase vans then.... hell, ATL alone has a yard slap full of purchase carriers every night.

After reading all the posts on pt, it seems like that "gentleman" on the DVD might have his numbers off a little. He said, " we use less pt than any other ltl company, and, we only use 2.7 % pt. Sounds like he just might have the numbers reversed!:shift:

There are going to be more and more purchase trailers taking our freight across the country. If fedex was a people first company like they preach and preach all the time purchase trailers would be getting phased out.

When we lose all of our road drivers here ...I'll buy 10 trucks and take all of our end of the line center to the hub runs .... I didn't want to ever own trucks again , but I'll do this, because I can aford it, and some here can't and will need a job ...:TR10driving03:

I'm surprised they have not tried even on a limited basis going to the Ground business model of using independent owner operators for the line haul instead of using Purchased Transportation with entry level Swift graduates.

Will you give me a job MR Dragon ???? I'm never late to work,,, a safe driver,,, take care of my equipment like my Dad taught me,,, but the present company I work for doesn't give a Damn.....

Enjoy your daylight run while you got it.

They are getting closer to only 1-2 day service on our trucks. All shuttle or hub turns at night is the future. All this B.S. realignment is just part of a larger plan to eliminate all relay that travels over 2 days. The won't need an owner operator business model, we will all be on night runs and purchase will handle freight that must move in the daylight hours. This has been coming for a long time. A lot of the centers who had explosive growth over the past 10 years got whacked the hardest. National is next for a tune-up.

Future of LTL is truckload linehaul substitution for the gravy runs. Linehaul at FedEx will be either short-hauls with dockwork or triples. Also known as the Conway operating model.

I don't think that we will even do triples any more. We were told that our triple runs would be hauling doubles from now on, although CLC,( or whatever it's called now), has the option of still running trips as needed. This still has me scratching my head. That third box at 2.5 cents per mile is like gravy for the company. Why wouldn't they run the triples? I should have gone to college so I could understand this logic.

I really think it becauce they(cental line) have no idea on how to run them. Just like Viking a few years back when P... K..... said" we dont run turns because we cant make them work"

If they don't know how to run them then it would be in the best interests of the company to learn. I know that I learn something new every day. Of course I never claimed to know it all,so it doesn't bother me to admit it when I lack some knowledge.

Well if you have called central dispatch lately and chatted with those guys..a bunch of west people are there .... ???? sooo ...what about the triples ..and not running them ..must be some other reason

Here is some other reason that I have seen.
Seems like the old east controllers are answering the phone for west linehaul,
and the old west controllers are working the east boards.
Not sure if there is a strategy there,... for these folks to learn the different operations,
or they just want to keep the drivers confused by talking to someone that is not familiar with the big picture.

Usexpress had an add in the hgr paper today. I've never seen them put in add in our paper before. I don't know if this has anything to do with us. Add says plenty of miles, great pay, and great benefits.
