FedEx Freight | Rumors of layoffs on Channel 4 news

Shoot boys dont worry . You lose your job obama will take care of you they have plenty of coffens stacked up all across america at the fema stations just waiting on you. Lmao

WTF? I know some people can't help but insert their political views into every conversation. I accept that, and discard it. This one is just ignorant. I don't think Obama had anything to do with FEMA disasters. :Off-Topic:

wake up people you think this company cares about you and me,how long does this have to go on, we need to voice are opinion before we are all lookin for a job,you know its going to happen the writing is on the wall, there not putting all these purchase vans on for nothing. we need to come up with something to let management know we are not playing anymore, like the blue flu or the freight flu we all take off the same night all around the system, just call in sorry im sick it will work but we all have to stick together on this and do it.we all have to call in on the same night, lets do it guys and stick it to them see how they like it.

We didn't "lose" anyone! No one was "laid off" or "fired". They have the opportunity to uproot their lives and transfer (follow the freight) or face being "rebalanced".

That's much better than losing your job. It sounds so much better.

hairbear, really sorry to hear about your situation. Actually, it makes me sick to my stomach. Guys I've worked with for years are getting screwed hard.

I really wish bad things upon those making these decisions. Because I don't think it has ANYTHING to do with business levels. This is all about getting themselves adjusted for
when certain legislation may pass. They wouldn't dare do this in a robust economy because they would have no one left to move the freight. When the economy gets better,
I think they are going to have trouble retaining people. I certainly hope so. SOB's.

What legislation are you talking about???
The only legislation being debated only concerns Express and not Freight.
The sad truth is that a lot of the problems we maybe going through with the economy is due to Obama putting this country into a tailspin. And things may eventually fix themselves as soon as we clean house after 2010.

Very well said River..... Hopefully people will wake up to the real world by then.... No politician is perfect,,, and dang sure it takes ALL of us working together to fix a problem.... With elected idiots (House and Senate) being able to vote themselves raises,,, free health care,,, no taxes,,, etc.... Something is WRONG with that system ...................... But electing that NON-AMERICAN is in my opinion NOT the answer..... (again,,, my opinion...)

I was laid off in April. April 11 was my last day. I waited for 30 days and then took the buyout. I had 12 years there. I took the buyout while they still offered it. Who knows when they will pull that off the table. Luckily I had my own construction co. with my nephew. we have had it for 10 years and it is doing very well. I also took the cobra insurance and Fedex is paying the 65% of the premium. They have now just laid off the rest of the dock assoc in STL. There were 7 left. And I dont think it will stop there. If freight levels dont jump up dramaticaly how many more are going to be laid off come this winter when freight typically slows down? I always did miss the days when we were AF. What a great Co. to work for. The Garrisons really did care about the little people.

obama is not the answer,i dont care who was elected preident the economy would still be in th :shit:ter, for those that believe its obamas fault you should all have your heads examined,it seems like what ever happens you blame obama, lets blame fred smith and his management team for what this company is going through, did obama put on all these purchase vans and lay off all these drivers and let drivers sit at home everynight and starve, give me a break people, get these damn purchase van out of here and we won't be getting laid off, there wont be any drivers sitting at home.

Just curios what does YRCW's stock have anything to do with your layoffs?????????? Just another jab at YRCW:nutkick: But thanks for your concern:biglaugh::biglaugh:

Just curious, with the numerous jabs taking place at Fedex on the YRC and union/non-union forums did you find offense at that or find it off topic???? Just curious.:nutkick::biglaugh:

I agree Roadwhore every month there are more and more purchase trailers in the yard. get rid of them and keep the fedex freight employees working. fred Smith and his management team have really made a lot of bad decisions. And I dont belive for a minute fred or any of the upper management took a pay cut. why did they not just have a pay cut across the board (drivers and dock) and keep them working. they could have saved millions and millions by doing that. They have lost a lot of good employees over the past year. It is funny how a person who has been there 12++ years lost their job when a person who has been there less than 2 years is still working. If you did not have your CDL you were the first to go. maybe if they would have told these people they would be the first to go if they did not get their CDL a lot of them would have got it just for a little job security.

We had full time dock that got their CDL and they gave them up. Also FedEx made it pretty clear a few winters ago when things started to slow down that they would get rid of non driver qualified before drivers. And for the past 5yrs when a full time dock quit or became a driver they didnt replace that position. So if a dock worker didnt think they were a dying breed they were working with their eyes closed.

Not the case in STL FED875. In october of 2008 they made 12 part time dock assoc full time dock assoc. And nobody in STL said if things slow down dock would be the first to go. And I know drivers have been let go at other centers. When they ran out of dock assoc to lay off if they had any they went to the drivers. Fred and the genius management team could have come up with some other ways to cut cost rather than just laying off. If they would just get rid of half the mid and upper management in the fedex system think what that would save.Log live the good old days of American freightways.

Yeah lets blame Obama for this one!! Wow you people are idiots!!

That seems excessive, is it that slow or is that an operational move? ( run the frt from somewhere else)

Of the 10, at least 3 have a chance to "follow the freight". 1 can go to SPO, 1 to EUG, and 1 to POR. There may be more of the 10, but I'm not sure how many. And yes, the North West has always been more of a dead end freight lane. Lots going in, not much coming out. When I was a road driver, I very seldom took loads in there because getting out was a pain. It usually meant going backto Patterson and getting wine, or going to YAK and getting beer.

Ya no shiz...no red shirts gone but half the drivers working....better hold on to the important ones fred> weigh an reserch very emportant dont know what we would do without them
