I love the part where the old lady towards the end that kept saying that this is a "people first thing" Just like she said on the video in February (verbatom) :eck13:

Didn't see the video. She really said that this "rebalancing" is a people first thing?

What a set of nuts this corporation has. Even the women.

ziggy, you didn't get the axe did you? i got layed off in april .if you did hope you can find something.

No I did not get it this time but waiting for January,
Besides the 8 that are leaving they are taking 5 runs off the bid sheet and running them off the x-tra board so the way I see it they will get rid of them around January if not before
Ahh the days of A.F. I sure miss them :ranting2:

Because I'm sure AF would just close their eyes and pretend nothing was happening? Because Sheridan would step in and say something valiant and brave and we would all just be so much better off?

Maybe he wouldn't have used such stupid terms as "rebalancing". (You can't rebalance. You are either balanced or you are. That word means that you are balancing something that is already balanced meaning you aren't making a difference) Or "follow the freight". (Which means you can uproot your family to follow a job where you drive for a couple of hours then work the dock for about the same money you can make working in a warehouse out of the weather).

Maybe he wouldn't insult the intelligence of everyone that works here. Maybe he would be straight with people witout having to try and hide the intent in stupid corpoate lingo that makes only them feel good about what they do to people's lives.

I think they mean we can hire migrant workers to do line haul
teach them to say 10, good buddy, send them to swifts trucking school
put them in a down grade, tell to just get close and we'll send someone out to find you.
and then if there real late they'll code the freight weather delay
I've been in the trucking industry for about 30 years and have NEVER been lied to as much as I have in the last couple of years
now to go pull my manhood out of my stomach( got kicked pretty hard )
and go find a job. Transfer ? and get them kicked in a year from now ? NOPE !!!!!

They continue to show and prove they are NOT a people first company. Unless they are speaking of themselves as the 'people'. The things they are doing to the lives of the people who have worked for them and been loyal to them is borderline criminal. These fancy phrases they use...rebalancing...are just things that make them all sound and feel better as one by one we lose our benefits and pay.

As soon as you guys realize that the "people" they speak of is not you and I but the people that own the stock, the better your life will be. A publicly owned company will do what it takes to succeed. Part of success is keeping the stock attractive enough to keep people buying it.

If FedEx ran the company the way half of you think it should be run, the stock would be around $.87 a share and we would be in deep ::shit::. Just realize that the main goal at FedEx is to make a profit. If they can keep the employees happy while doing it, so much the better. Employee happiness isn't the top priority right now. When times are lean, people suffer. If a company doesn't adjust with the times, then Jeff would be moving this forum to the graveyard section.

Could they do things different? I'm sure they could. We are just a cog in the wheel, so to speak. Spend a little time observing what crap the person just above you goes through in his or her day. Most of the decisions made at a company come from further up than we can see.

Just realize that we still have it pretty good. (those of us that still have jobs) This company will survive and will once again flourish when times get better. For those that have lost you job... you have a marketable skill second to none. The country will always need good workers. You may have to settle for something a little less than you want, but that will change. You are only as positive as you want to be. Sometimes you have to look hard, but there is always a silver lining.

Excellent post.

Of course it is a people first company. I have explained it before and will do so again.
Get your ears up real close to the speaker and you'll hear what she really said.
You insignificant, useless PEOPLE will be the FIRST to go.

Franklin, I'll get by. There are a lot of other people that are in a world of hurt. Upside down in their homes, can't sell, can't move, no comparable work or no work at all to be had.
As far as my yard. The first "realignment" took us from nearly 90 drivers to 50 something. Attrition took us to 47.
"Rebalancing" (fixing something that quite frankly wasn't broken) will take us to 22 drivers on 8/23. Of the 25 unfortunate drivers 8 can go to Chi, 1 to EUG, 1 to SLM, 1 to BND, 1 to FRO and 2 to KTL. The other 9 can hope someone retires or walks too slow across the yard in the middle of the night. From 18 daytime runs, we will have 3. Of the remaining bids, 6 will be 300 mi 3&2 laydowns. For some reason, some of us old time Vikings think they are contriving methods to just flat disgust us to the point of quitting or just flat starving us out.
Just my $.02 worth.

Am I pissed off or bitter? Still deciding.
Still chewing on the announcement that a driver in another yard that has 3 or 4 years of seniority can "follow the work" and displace a driver with 20 years. Really trying to wrap my arms around that concept.

I hope you didn't buy a house there in Chico CHI.
Because before you know it they are going to have another change of operations, and then you will have to follow work to Williams, CA on the I-5.
