47,000 employees

the statment says 35,000 teamster employees, what happened to the other 14000. I just read an article yesterday that states yrcw has 49000 teamster members.

bp
YRCW has 47,000 employees over half of which are Teamsters. Does this clear it up for you?

I only stated what I thought might happen. - Therefore that is a fact not a rumor. - If I would to have put "I heard that..." That would be spreading a rumor.

I am fairly sure that the YRC will not close in the next month. - I feel that they will have to file if they don't get VERY DEEP CONCESSIONS from us.
If they do not get further concessions, I feel they will be here to somewhere into next summer before being shuttered.

The sad part about what MAY happen, is that they will get the concessions. With that they will go on a price war with other LTL companies. - Now, not only do we lose our benefits, but Fedx,OD,Conway and other Non union carriers will take the same away from thier employees to match YRC.
Do you know who that is going to hurt ? ABF, UPSF and other Teamster freight company. that won't be able to cut on a whim to match pricing.

If by some miracle, YRC stays open and operating in some sort of profitability; Do you think they will be able to pay contract rates in 2013 ? - Wouldn't that put that back into the same situation as now? - I truly do want to see YRC grow and become profitable again. - I would like to be recalled also. - But at what cost ??

The only way I could agree with the vote is that ALL Monies given back in wages and benefits be used to pay down debt. NO CUTBACKS IN PRICING. - YRC could be virtually debt free by 2013 if they did just that. Remember that the 10% giveback is good for almost 1 BILLION dollars by the end of the contract. That's 1/2 thier debt alone; not including any other concessions. Another 2 years of not paying into the pension.... another 1 billion saved. With thier debt being at about 2 billion; they just paid it off. Remember that is just from our concessions. PURE SAVINGS or profit how ever you want to look at it.

That likely won't happen, because YRC exec's will continue to take more and more aslong as it is there to take.

As far as waiting ..... WHY ? IBT can post it on thier website almost as fast as they can type it up and blast fax it. O just incase you didn't notice I am very pessimistic person.

I agree with trucker999. Nobody gives a damn about what you THINK. Keep all your brilliant speculation to yourself. The facts will be revealed next week. That is all that matters. Your opinions don't mean ::shit::.

Truckingboards is all about opinions and speculation. Something tells me he just didn't agree with you and wanted to discredit you.

I come here for Jeff's insider scoops and to see what the masses think about what's going on. Keep bringing it.

:clap:Thats a good description, we get tips on rumors, talk about the rumors, then scour the net looking to either validate them or discredit them.

If the Teamster leadership had any consideration for the members we wouldn't have to wait until next week to find out what's going on. This affects a lot of peoples lives. They want to know as soon as possible. The locals should have been on standby for a conference call to occur when a tentative agreement was reached. That should have happened this morning. Immediately followed by a press release outlining the basics of the agreement. I don't understand the delay. What did they have to go to the teety bar after or what?

Actually. I think yrc and the union have done all they are.going to do for now.The 14month reprieve which os in effect,10percent.oay cut.for now.....

Look, I could come on here and speculate about what concessions I think might be included, but what purpose would that serve? It sure as hell wouldn't benefit you any. All it would do is pump up my ego to show how brilliant I am to conjecture about things that I have absolutely no knowledge about. And if any of my predictions came true, I could brag about how smart I was. I already know how smart a whole bunch of these YRC PHD's are, I read it all the time. I have never appreciated how privileged I was to have been able to work with so many Einsteins.

They want the locals to practice thier speeches on how good this will be for us ! " You better sell this agreement good or you will lose alot of my money. Tell them it's the best thing for them and that if they vote NO; then they won't be able to find another job for a long time."

Yes it should be done really quick so the higher up pockets can be padded more and then dump you after you stuff your contributions in their pockets. Give it up people. Pull the plug. Life support is only temporary. This should be good for all carriers though. At least the union carriers. They should have some real easy negotiations when due.

I'm not planning on looking for a job for a long time. Unemployment is 79 weeks in mi. They just have to get off their *ss and close the doors or lay me off. Can't collect it if I quit:ranting2:
