XPO | Looks like YRC gonna vote on 5% cut...

Man, I wish those guys luck. That sucks.

Thanks! (I'm YRC). I'm sure some Conway, OD, Fed-Ex, etc employees hope we go down, so you all can start hauling the freight we used to haul, and get more hours, etc. Whether or not you like Unions, I hope all the nons out there realize that if we take another pay cut and benefit reduction, that it will quickly filter down to your wages and benefits. I hope we're not in a race to the bottom for the working man, but it kinda looks like we are.

No one with a brain wants to see you go down. There has to be a balance. Regardless, no one wants to see people lose their jobs.

Its over....

Whether this initiative passes or not the bottom line is simply that YRC has no other options than to request concessions from their employees...which truly sucks!!!

They were told the initial 10% would be enough...and now the company wants an additional 5% plus the cessation of the retirement plan for 18 months and the way I understand it some kind of contribution from their employees for their H&W.

There is nothing left to bargain with other than the NMFA contract...

Everthing is mortgaged to the hilt...properties (including the corporate offices) have been sold for leaseback...

Thousands of good people indefinitely laid off...now they say the callback rights are ten years instead if five....

Five give you ten means nothing when there is nothing to go to. The bad management at YRC has caused the downfall and eventual closure of a very good company. The part that pisses me off is the fact that their upper echelon managers are going to walk away unscathed...truly a shame!

This current plan is a turning point. YRC has been losing money at an alarming rate....plus their obligations are simply way too high to recover from.

Its just a matter of time...and this sucks for those who have given a lifetime of service to a company just to watch it go down due to an idiot being at the helm.

well the way i got it from a roadway driver is ....12%cut only 2 weeks paid vacation and loss of sick days....he said it was the rumor because yrc nor ibt has made the deal public..before taking it to a vote

Conway employees should be getting their 5 percent back if the company posts a 2nd quarter profit. Please be aware that the only reason that Conway is hiring so many people is because the hours are going to be cut back. Its not that there is so much freight, more people less hours, no benefits, its just like when my kid applied to a job at the mall, hired right away, benefits after 40 hours, they also hired 30 other kids, she ended up working 15 hours a week with no benefits, now do you understand, also please understand that if yrc takes this pay cut and its voted on they are saving over 43 million a month, thats a lot of change, I would start to worry about Conway instead of YRC, they might be in a better position than Conway after this year. Also your not suppose to be talking union on this board!!!!

Its Public

they made it public yesterday afternoon, on all the finacial sites. What the other guy sais is correct, 5% more on wages( $1.16/hr), pension termination till 2011 & something towards H&W.

We need two straight quarters at 95 or better o/r to get something back.

This is a helluva a comparison to your kid working at a mall to yrc.

It is hard not to worry about YRC because everything can be found on the net and your own people are preaching that this is going to be the end and lastly ....

Also your not suppose to be talking union on this board!!!!
The issues need to be discussed .. it is a hot topic. I am allowing certain discussions as long as it does not swing into a debate ...

I sure hope Con-way doesn't follow their lead...:nutkick:

I told them the last time they cut our pay... "Just cause the other LTL companies jump off the bridge, doesn't mean that Con-Way should.". But they did. Won't surprise me if they try to get more before the year is out. And then for 2010 mark my word... "Our health insurance will go up again."

Well, YRC is causing alot of these problems by the huge discounts they are giving across the board to their customers. They can do this due to the sheer volume of freight they haul...about 25% of the total LTL market.

So on one hand, they're hauling all this freight for peanuts to protect their market share and on the other they're deeply in debt. They can't raise rates, they can't generate enough cash flow to pay their enormous debts, so now they go to their employees for wage cuts and pension deferments!!!!! :Flame-On:

I'm sorry but YRC needs to GO AWAY, they are nothing but a cancer in the LTL market. Even if they get these concessions, it just buys them more time is all and in the meantime, they are killing the LTL market for the rest of the healthy players and pushing down the rates for all workingmen. I don't wish to see people out of work, but if YRC goes under that 25% market share will be spread around to the rest of the LTL's and most of these guys can get jobs for close to what they got with YRC. Since the average age of YRC drivers is 60, alot of those guys will be retiring or close to it.

So then we'll see profits go up for all LTL's, healthy rate increases, freight being hauled profitably, and raises instead of wage cuts and 401k freeze. I don't buy the argument that YRC sets the wages in LTL...the Teamsters do. So any LTL carrier will still have to risk guys signing cards if they try and cut rates further...but why would they if profits start coming back to the sector?

Yrc

I've known too many people who've worked for YRC, USF, R. over the years to see YRC go down. My company doesn't need any competitor to shut down and add to the unemployment just to help us out.

Besides- it looks like CONWAY is up to something and I'd hate for YRC to close and add fuel to our mgt's plans.

Mike you are right about some things you say. It is good for the rest of the ltl carriers if yrc goes down. But you are definitely wrong on yrc being the cheapest carrier. Go do some customer polling and you will find out that they are one of the more expensive carriers. When CF went down yrc volume did not increase that much. Why? Because CF had alot of cheap freight and yrc(yellow) did not want that. But your other points are pretty accurate.

:ranting2:::shit:::nutkick:i have never seen any freight company give back anything they have taken away. xgo is not about to give us any 401k or wage cuts back , they don`t have too. they will give themselves a bonus for achieving such great profits . because they have contractes that spell it out. as for yrc the combining the two companies together only left freightset and cause both companies mag busks because it wasn`t thought out properly before they did it. just like our company mangement will choke the goose that lays the golden egg. hell we`ve got their chief finianical officer as part of our top team.

I'm confused??? So YRC cutting wages 5% is smart and is going to save 43 million per month, but Con Way doing it is the demise of the company:clap::clap::clap::clap: Genius:biglaugh: Also, i'm not sure how your terminal works but at ours, senior DSR's hardly ever get sent home before their 8 and it is almost ALWAYS their choice:nutkick: Oh yeah, and to think they would be in a better position than Con Way would be like saying that a smart millionaire is going to be worse off in 2010 than an unemployed person:clap::clap: Lastly, like them or not, Con Way leaders are much SMARTER than YRC leaders and we will have jobs when this recession is over because of them.

Our SCM told us that 95 O/R or better would only get some of our 401 k back he didn't know when or if we would ever get the 5% back. (At least he's honest) Our scm said it would more than likely take looseing drivers to other companys before we would see it. At least yall boys up North and out west get OT past 8.Everybody's acting like YRC is out for the count, but IF they vote yes on this ,well they might make it(might notto). Then in a couple years they will be able to renogciate there contract(we can't say that).I do agree we need to be takeing care of our own business first and not focusing in on YRC.Most guys I talk to think YRC is just YRC (yellow-roadway)and holland, they forget New Penn, Glen Moore,YRC logistics,Readaway,Reimer, and Shanghi Logistics. The only problem YRC has is there jackleg mangement and Zollars ,that jackass couldn't manage his way out of a wet paper sack.Personally I wouldn't pee on him if he was on fire.Sorry guys/gals just ranting now yall have a good week.

Well, YRC is causing alot of these problems by the huge discounts they are giving across the board to their customers.

Where did you obtain this information? The only discounts I am aware of is to core customers that have already received discounts from YRC competitors in an effort to secure YRC accounts and drive them out of business.

Pineapple;
The GOOD LORD above only knows how seriously and honestly I say this. I hope and pray this doesn't happen to YRC . I had very good friends that was with CF. No one with any ethics or morals wants to see anyone loose their jobs like that or take cuts. ( I MUST ADDMITT THERE ARE SOME INDIVIDUALS THAT NEEDS TO BE AXED IN EVERY COMPANY)
If the dead weight in our companies ( Including Management) were to get what they deserved we wouldn't have these problems.
Oh!!! I don't want to forget another group of people. THE WHOLE MESS OF THIEVES IN D.C. (BOTH SIDES OF THE ISLE) 99.9% of them needs to go.:TR10driving03::shift:
