FedEx Freight | Why is Fedex becoming so openly hostile to its drivers???

They don't want us congregating. They feel we are conspiring against them, when all we are doing actually, is talking about politics or the plans for the weekend. That's ok, let them get paranoid, they need to be, we are.

if they dont want you out in the parking lots talking why are there so many closed door meetings with a room full of red shirts when you call into dispatch theres nobody there but an office girl cause the rest of the red shirts plotting their next move to overthrow the drivers.ill bet to say it gets em worried more if nobody says anything but stairs at em with a grin :ranting2: just make em think and wonder whats on your mind

I don't understand the necessity for what Mr. Reed did.... If you have problems with certain drivers how about adressing them I don't need comments like what was on the cd.... I found a letter in my mailbox from management to all drivers saying no more exersizing on the yard whether you are on the clock or not and dont drop any personal trailers or move anything out in the company parking lot. Ok, I got that but I didn't need the snive comment about how the parking lot "is not a meeting place".... No ::shit:: sherlock... Where the hell did that come from?
I think back over the last 14 years of doing the best job I could do and here I get talked to like a child like that and how we need to build this "diversity" house. I thought most people had stopped playing with tinker toys a long time ago... I see guys with 12 years of service to this company reassigned to the BOTTOM of the dock where they are lucky to get enough hours to make ends meet while someone with 3 MONTHS with the company was put ahead of them in seniority what the hell???? I see purchase carriers crawling all over the yard in CLT and especially in ATL and I wonder what the hell is going on when I have NEVER seen so many before. I really try to be "engaged" but with stuff like this going on it becomes more and more difficult...

10-4 on the purchase trailers crawling all over the lot. When I GET to work at night, I come on the lot and see why I'm sitting at home so much. The pts' have doubled in the last 3 months.

OK, so do I understand correctly??? In all your glossy, creative, way of explaining things, at the end of the day, you are just saying "If you don't like it, Leave." Creative, but still a cop-out. I don't just LEAVE when things get a little uncomfortable. Quitters just leave...

So, just because the economy is HORRIBLE and the powers that be know this, does not give them the right to disrespect us and degenerate working conditions and morale.

Leave is not the answer, lets find a solution. :shift:

Look, it's just like the military. When I joined the army I knew I wasn't gonna change the army no matter what I said or did. The only choice I had was to leave the army which I did after my 4 year enlistment was up.

As far as PT goes, of course they're gonna use PT to save a buck if they can. Alot of you guys have no problem driving past the mom-n-pop store on your way to Wal-Mart to save money and buy all that chinese stuff and put Americans out of work...so why is it a problem when FedEx tries to save money? They don't owe you anything, it's just a job. Get on with your life and move on.

Mike Varnco

You have to remember that one of the main reasons why most people HAVE to drive by the mom and pop store and go straight to Wal-Mart to buy the chinese "stuff" is because most people have to make their dollar go a little further after they get done paying all these taxes that the big government crowd both state and federal impose on the working folks.
These same clowns that want to pass this "cap and trade" and "health care reform" are the same ones that are forcing companies to either go out of business or move overseas to escape the confiscatory taxes and burdensome regulations. These are the same politicians that want all of us to get a government job so we can vote for their hand outs.

Isn't it possible that this hostility you feel is coming from one or two hostile people? Do you really think its a management mandate to be openly snitty with the drivers because that way their feelings will get hurt and they'll quit so then we can hire those "other guys" that will work for next to nothing and do whatever we tell them?

How about asking the guy what his problem is? Maybe he doesn't realize he's coming off like an uptight douche. Maybe he's under a lot of pressure too.

Yellow Roadway and Holland drivers are pondering how to vote on an issue that may determine whether or not they will have a company to work for and FedEx Freight has threads about hostile supervisors and the occasional purchase trailer.

Pretty sensitive over here I guess.

I am quite aware of what is going on at YRC since I have a father who just retired there last october and I think constantly of what may become of the pension he worked his *** off for many years with MaClean and Yellow right? Maybe you find a yard literally crawling with PT like Atlanta is at night an "occasional" PT, or to the fact that PT has BID runs out of the hubs and OUR guys will get cancelled while PT runs (dont mean nothin' not a thing right?) head out on the highway, not to mention the fact I have seen full trailers brought in and put to the dock and unloaded and re-loaded onto PT (hey, not a big deal to you right?)and not to mention 12 to 13 year guys kicked to the bottom of the dock board while 3 month guys get the hours and have the seniority on them PERMANENTLY (It's gonna be alright huh? How about telling one of them that maybe they shouldn't be so sensitive and look what's going on at YRC?) but then again, maybe you are somewhat insensitive to the direction or intention of this topic too, right? Just my opinion.

The trials of others do not negate the difficulties of your own.

The general consensus here is that we are being treated like ::shit:: and we are tired of it.

yeah all of the above is true. we have had several meetings and have been told if we dont like the way things are done around here that we should just leave. sounds about like communist government doesnt it. i miss american freight but gotta pay the bills u know.

I can"t believe how bad this company is treating its employees. I talked to a fellow worker on workmans comp they are refusing his doctors orders for an MRI.Good Greif.

Alright, let's talk about this in Star Trek terms.
Let's say you're on a federation starship and you work under a good captain and crew and everybody's happy-go-lucky.
Then one day, the Borg unexpectedly show up in your quadrant with one of those huge cube ships and they lock their tractor beam on your starship and assimilate the captain and crew into Borg.
So now what do you do?
Well, you aren't going to change the Borg because they're Borg.
They mindlessly go around assimilating other starships and cultures because that's just what they do.
You can't argue with the Borg because they don't care what you say and they don't recognize you anyway...in fact they have this nasty habit of walking right past you if you try and talk with them as if you didn't exist.
You can **** and moan but will generally get the same response.

So you can either stay on the Borg ship doing your task to the betterment of the Borg collective or you can hatch some daring escape plan and make a run for it and maybe get on with another starship and crew. But then the Borg will eventually be around to assimilate that ship too.

OK, now do you guys get it? :biglaugh::nutkick:

If I remember correctly, someone gave the entire Borg collective a virus that affected everyone at the same time.:nutkick:

kinda new here bear with me please.

I know that middle management is getting a lot of s@it from above.

Instead of being pi*ssed off at the drivers, the smart ones would be trying to win the drivers over to amake thier jobs easier and get the results they need to show their bosses.

Instead, to many managers think they can do it on their own, when in fact when they p*iss off the very people they depend on to get the proper stats, they find themselves under more pressure because what they are doing is simply not working.

If a driver is motivated, he may try to talk a customer into taking a delivery even though we have showed up after they closed. A driver that wants to stick it to their dispatcher or SCM will probably say, "what the f*ck. No Skin off my a*s. Refuse it, I don't care."

Which employee would you rather have representing the company out in the field?

It's not a very difficult question.

FedEx just doesn't get it.

Why are you typing like this?

Are there restrictions on words you can say here?

Some guy sent me another website to look at and it came up garbled. He tryed it again and again it came up garbled. when I saw him at the hub he said there must be a virus or something that does not allow other websites names. Is this right or do I need to take my cmputer to the shop?

Remember everybody this is not AF anymore. AF was a great company to work for. They unlike Fedex cared about their people. Management, city.road drivers and dock got along good. It was like a family(the AF family) When Fedex bought AF they did not bring any of AFs buisness practices over in the transition. Too bad though, Fedex could stand to learn a thing or two from AF. And everybody who was working here when fedex took over saw how they snuffed out a lot of the old AF management and people. We all know Fedex does not give a dam about their people. But if you kiss a lot of *** you can move up. It is sad what they are doing and becoming.

Certain words are deemed "offensive" and if you spell them right, they won't show.

If you want to look at that website, have him send you the link to your private email. I don't know if certain website links are not allowed to be posted here or not. Could have been a link error....

I usually just observe forums and am not much into posting but it has got to the point that I have to ask a question. I am a city driver with a little bit of seniority under my belt and I have observed a steadily increasing trend of open hostility and disrespect towards us. What is with this? Why have we become the enemy of this company? I just want to do my job in peace. I enjoy what I do and believe in our product but I cannot understand why when we are the footsoldiers why we are being treated as the enemy.

Because they Can!
