Hi, I'm new to posting and have found the information on the Fedex Freight forum really informative over the past several months. I have a question. Has anyone heard about Fedex Frieght doing away with the raises for new hires? When my husband was hired just over a year ago, he was told he would get 3 raises to reach full scale (I'm not sure but I believe it was one each year and then one when he completed the driver training program). Anyway, he just hit his one year mark and he was just told he wouldn't be receiving his increase. I can't believe this. We knew they did away with the cost of living increases but we didn't know they had stopped the wage increases for new hires too. So I guess now he's expected to work at starting wages forever? I mean what happens when they unfreeze the wages, does he go up to full pay then or is he going to start at the beginning again? Oh by the way, he was told too that he would be starting the driver training program within 3 months of being hired and this hasn't happened either. Has anyone in other terminals been affected by this or know any information about it? It's really disappointing needless to say.

They froze all driver training and raises. If they would have trained him they would have to pay driver wages. Everything is frozen until the economy improves or the brass decides to change it.

Yes I concure Welcome to Truckingboards.....

I work for FXN an a couple of days ago we recieved a newsletter from MR Smith to all the Opcos. It said if the economy continues to improve (IF) that the plan is to reinstate the schelduled wage increase that you speak of, in Jan. or Feb I can't remember which 1 it was. Sorry I threw it away after I read it. I am unclear as to how it will be done. 1. Pick up where it was postphoned or 2. bring it where it should be as of the reinstatement date.

I hope this helps, at least we know it is not permanent. Good Luck .

We were told we would get our 2009 raises in feb. then in march or june cant remember we would get our 2010 raises. I also believe we are to get our 401k match back in like march.

Pretty convenent saying in Jan. or Feb. everybody who has been working at fedex Freight for years knows that is typically the slowest time of the year. I dont think they have any plans in the next 9 months to un freeze raises or anything else they cut and took away. I hope I am wrong but we will just have to see.

Oh, come on now. All those nice People First managers wouldn't lie to us. At least not until we've had our full ration of cool aid.

Welcome to Truckingboards.
With so many changes lately, we probably know less than
his Service Center Manager or Human Resources in Harrison.
If I were you I would start with HR and ask them on the phone
the same questions you presented here.
But like everyone else said, we have to wait till the economy improves.
We are all hostages of Obama, just like the people in Cuba. :ranting2:

Good news!!

Sorry I haven't been on the board recently. but I did want to give everyone some good news for a change. After my husband was told he wouldn't be getting his raise, he did get it a week later. He asked one of the Op Managers what was going on and he didn't seem to know but he told my husband that if he got it then don't worry about it. So anyway, hopefully all the other new hires will be getting their's too. We were really happy to see it on his check. I just wanted to update everyone and thank everyone for their input and concern. Thanks again.

We're glad to hear this good news. Congrats.......Thanks for the delayed update, you must have been out shopping...:biglaugh:

.

We are all hostages of Obama, just like the people in Cuba.

Good lord! So Obama is now calling the shots at FedEx Freight? I must have missed the buy out.

And we're not giving Cubans their cost of living wages? What the hell?

You should have your husband tell that Operations Manager,
that thanks to Truckingboards, he got that pay raise approved.

Franklin

Of course.
You still don't understand that FedEx Freight is having
to adjust to future Obama tax increases that will slow
down and shrink the economy even further.
If the economy does not grow our services are not needed
as much as before. We are not the only ones downsizing and batting down the hatches.
