I saw an owner operator the other night with a UPS Freight duct tape sign on his door hooking up to a set of our pups. When I asked him about it he said the company is starting to use them instead of the contract carriers. The hostler said it was the first time he had seen them in the yard. Has this been going on elswhere, or is this a new thing? I got unit numbers and all info I could and gave it to our steward.

Las vegas has Truck Load every day going to Dallas Tx, I file on it all the time. We need to stop them thats our FREIGHT. I just won a grievance on a load out of LAS Vegas to SOH it's only 238 miles for the meet point from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City UT but they had to pay. The hole point is to stop contract carriers now its UPS TRUCK LOAD. Fontana CA has a lot of contract carriers coming out of there all day every day and Rialto CA to this need to stop

This wasnt truckload, and it wasnt a contractor like CRST or andrus, it was an independent owner operator leased on to UPS Freight.

These Owner Operators are leased to UPS Freight, they usually haul Truckload division freight, but as of recently have been hauling LTL freight, I've yet to see them hauling sets though in my area. I've spoken to one of the contractors that parks at my terminal, and he prefers to stay away from the LTL freight, and would rather do drop/hooks of Truckload division freight. His specific tractor has his company name on the door, and on the side fairings of the sleeper it says "leased to UPS Freight" in a fancy script font.
