TForce | A/C Question...

Sure the freight could still get delivered A/C or no A/C, from time to time other City units have had the A/C go out and we've taken them out in the city, written them up and they get fixed. Another issue with the A/C on this straight truck, is the fact that their is not an assigned driver for it at the current time, a non-guaranteed driver would take it out on a route, after working the I/B dock. I'm talking about a 12-14 hour day by the time your back with the route, the heat will wear you out by the day's end. Is that safe?

St. Jay, we were told we were getting the truck swapped out with another this weekend, so the shop can fix the A/C, we wanted to give the company a chance to solve the issue before filing.

On a side note for what it's worth:
It's pretty hard to justify and compare driving a non AC unit to an AC unit while working in a climate controlled office. Hmm.

the question is can we as ups still deliver freight without a ac.the answer is yes.or do we as non drivers stand back and make our curstomers suffer because of of the inconvience of our drivers that we were used to years ago...please answer that...

Being a realist - I understand Your point!

Although, the configuration of these trucks now-a-day's and the emphasis on aerodynamics...

Compromises driver safety (mainly driver fatigue) due to side doors not having < window vents > which always allowed air to circulate throughout the cab... in older models!

The streamline designs - suck the air right out of the cabs...

(I've experienced this in both - Straight Trucks & Tractors)

If, a driver is putting a piece of equipment out of service - due to this reasoning...

Then You must give the benefit of a doubt - to that particular individual!

When Your signing off a VCR...

Your suppose to be considering < the next person > and not just Yourself!

If something isn't right - Your not suppose to just pass it off... Right?

Otherwise Your jeopardizing the next persons well being...

Which is un-ethical!

We are suppose to be looking out for each other...

Union or Not! :shift:

well boys deal with it UPS owns it it WILL NOT get fixed hell ther so gun ho on safety y does my truck not have power windows arainy foggy nite need to back my trk up gotta get up and roll my window down to see out of my mirrors but from a 34+years at UPS remembers when all of ther trks had no A/C if its extra UPS will not pay for it

Ultimately, that is the choice...

Either deal with it...

Or have to Fortitude too - Deal with It!

Wow you actually got a rental we never knew rental equipment existed in our barn. And that other truck your getting might be one for our barn we somehow keep getting used old equipment while the other terminals get the new stuff.

Sounds to me like a safety issue. If it is don't use it or stop and get it fixed. If you have an accident its on you. UPS will say you should not have moved unit if safety issue.

i agree wit u

Don't forget the cab over Mack. I felt left out.:biglaugh:

Cadillac style

Don't forget the cab over Mack. I felt left out.:biglaugh:

when i started out i had to peddle with a Mb and a White and then graduated to a cab over mack..remember the 2 stick mb well.delivering 40 grand loads of beer shifting my butt off.was glad to get a 300 mack.5 speed and a clock to block.those were the days, had a lot of fun, left the term and on your own.as long as the job got done..now seems like can't even take a leak without someone telling you how long it took you to pee.those days are over.eyes are all over the place..clocks are now not just in the trucks but in the sky and the the little brown boxes...we are now owned, operated and our lives fully controlled by UPS from the way the look to our health and the way we live till we retire..face it...they own us..thats what it's become....union or not...take a look around...it only gets better for them..where does it stop??????????

Remember the tachograph in all the trucks and at the end of the day you had to turn in your tachograph read out. I don't think any one ever paid any attention to those read outs though.
