Yellow | was buying roadway a bad deal for us?

Yellow buying Roadway was a bad deal for Roadway. It's employees, not it's stockholders, who were paid a nice premium. Roadway had a very nice portfolio of companies that were good at what they did and left them alone.

Amen, Roadway was just fine until Yellow came along. Roadway made a profit every year. Sometime not a whole lot, but a profit just the same.

You could be forgiven for thinking that Zollars greed caused all the carnage. Yellow bought Roadway> It's not like it was a hostile takeover. Roadway agreed to it. New Penn agreed to it. USF agreed to it. There is no way to tell how things would be now if it didn't happen. I think the carnage would probably be worse. The plan of any big acquisition is to kill competition, capacity and jobs. It was exasperated by the meltdown and will continue till size meets demand. If you can't understand that FedEx and UPS did the same thing and it's all about the big four or the big five then what could I say. It's only business. The Plan is to keep New Penn and USF alive

This goes to show that you cant blame it all on the people on the top. UNION = to come together, organized. If the drivers ran it they would be to busy fuzzing and fighting about who fault it was. From the beginning the labor force was given the right to vote on about "every" change a company made but though out time they have given up half of their rights. And Yes I am pissed been laid off almost a year but I don't blame it all on the A-hole running Yellow or Roadway now known as YRC but we have to blame someone start by looking in the mirror then work your way up. Sometime in your life you have to take a stand or you can sit and let someone else make discussions for you. Now is not the time for fighting and fussing.
