Yellow | Union Says YRC Worldwide May Close New Penn

no

Just a question. In an article from the Journal of Commerce posted in June it says that YRC had 50,000 employees under contract. The new article says 35,000. Have 15,000 people lost their jobs since June?
15,000 employees did not lose their jobs ... the 15,000 employees are non union employees. YRC(W) has roughly 49,000 employees, 35-37,000 are union ... take what you read about YRC(W) very carefully these days.

merged in to YRC(W)

Read the whole article. Merged into YRC(W). That means New Penn can be merged into Holland, or YRC Inc, or (I don't know ... does it have to be one of the union entities?). In any case the article says YRCW, not YRC Inc ... guys at Holland (and New Penn) will hate me, but I would think the only logical place to merge New Penn would be Holland (they are both YRC Regional, right?). I said it months ago. Yellow and Roadway merged (we are YRC National). Holland and New Penn are YRC Regional. The plan is already underway ... New Penn can vote how they want ... they will be merged with someone, regardless ... I hope it is not Glen Moore. Can they do that?

New Penn Teamsters - It's Time Make A Stand

As a Teamster and a New Penn employee, I have come to realize that we are now presented with a great opportunity. Together we can change the course of the deterioration of the standard of living that our forefathers fought so proudly and unselfishly to attain, and pass on to us. Do we finally take a stand, and prove that we are willing to bend, but not to break, or do we cower to the coorporate Goliath we know as YRC Worldwide. It's easy to vote yes to everything that YRC is stripping away from us, for those of us who have set our pride and sense of self worth aside. It's easy to take for granted what others have fought for. It's easy to accept whatever the company offers. And it's easy to blame the Union when we get a raw deal, but it's difficult to be strong, to remain unified and to fight back, in an attempt to maintain what we have and deserve! I personally will not allow my fate to be determined by a mismanaged, underhanded, and failing company, who's obvious objective is to break the Union as well as the sprit of the employees. New Penn's only chance for survival is to VOTE NO! The language in Article 5 of the NMFA clearly states that if wages and benefits of the company being absorbed differ from the company absorbing it, that those wages and benefits must be maintained. In other words, if we reject any further concessions, and YRC merges New Penn, the New Penn employees will continue to enjoy our current wages and benefits. Why do you think Bill Zollars is so adamate about getting us to agree to the next round of cuts? By voting NO, we foiled his plan to combine the operation. Wake up! Read the book! Knowledge is power! BE STRONG VOTE NO!

Sounds like a nice chant. Where were you last year when those of us who are now voting Yes to keep their job, were voting No on the NMFA to prevent this from happening?

Boys this an't none of my business ,but from my understanding if YRC closes (not merge) any part of YRCW there is a kickback clause in there. Is that not correct KK.

The BRILLIANT "Dollar" Bill Zollars, threatening to close down his most profitable unit. We all know that NP Teamsters will ratify this time given the choice they have; however, the average "joe blow" shipper just hears bits and pieces that there is trouble at New Penn, so they send their freight other ways in the meantime.

Just when YRC needs customers the most, Zollars chases them away!

Last time we voted (New Penn Employee) we were told that since we have a Me Too Agreement that our vote doesnt really count.. So why now that the majority of New Penn's Vote is NO why now is it that our vote counts.. We never get told the truth.. as far as I understand.. New Penn was/is getting merged w/ YRC and that was always the plan??!!

Welcome to Yellows' world, whatever they touch they DESTROY!!!!:ranting2::ranting2::ranting2:

Well said my friend, well said !! Until todays worker wakes up , takes a stand and fights back , people like "dollar bill " will continue to abuse workers. In any war there are casulties, but unless you are willing to fight for what you want , you will continue to go backwards. At the end, you will have sold your soul for a days wages that is less today than last year but more today than next year. Will you be able to look your child in the face and say " Daddy (or mommy ) cant be with you today cause I owe my soul to the company store". Will you be able to look yourself in the mirror? Wake up people, wake up. This is your battle. It is time for corporate America to see who the worker is. It is time to shut it all down. Lets have NO TRUCKS moving at all. From the smallest van to the largest semi's. All teamsters and non teamsters alike. Otherwise just put your tail between your legs and watch what the people before us fought for just shrivel up and go away Some one once asked " Are you a man or a mouse " Which are you ? I know what side I am on !!

The problem here is to many people don't know the difference between falling on your sword and fighting a battle you can win.

Our forefathers did not fight for a so called "standard of living", they fought for liberty. But if your "forefathers" and "standard of living" reffers to those that began the union movement you are still wrong. The union standard of living is if 1 gets one loaf, all get one loaf. If 1 looses one leg, all loose one leg.
Your writing method does not indicate that of a freight hauler. Agent provocateur I suspect.
Our forefathers fought nothing for whether you wipe your azz with leaves, paper, or cloth. Whatever your standard for azz wiping is.
The problem isn't YRCW or the Teamsters. The problem is who WE have elected. It is against the law for a doctor in one State to offer free/volunteer services in another State (except in/from Tennessee). This is State law. We elected our States and DC. We've f#@ked ourselves.
We can un-f**k ourselves by voting anything but democratic or republican.

How about some of us laid off freight haulers running for state office?
