I can tell something is up cuz no Redshirt will look you in the eye when you ask whats up. It's allways a dead give away.

I don't have concrete details but, our SCM is in a panic to hire dock, city, and road personnel. Also he just hired a facilities maintenance man. WHY They went for a year without one and now it's get it done NOW!

naah, September is too boring a month. I don't think anything drastic will happen until either Thanksgiving or Christmas. Catch us right when we start to relax and wind down! :biglaugh:

Was told at rch hub the other night that they are putting on 5 dock...dont know if part or full time.

.

I heard that they are looking to add a few local here. Other than that, I haven't heard anything about dock, though I have seen one or two guys watching videos and touring the dock. ("This is where you'll be asked to do too much with too little and the only thing that counts are your stats.")

I think they are banking heavily on YRC collapsing.

Jinx......Dont be so thrilled that they are hiring part-timers...

After all they work for almost 1/2 the wages you work for...and they are ultimately going to cut your hours....it's a trend that's spreading like wildfire.....bottom line it's....Save the almighty DOLLAR

don't get excited

Don't get too excited, I think it's just time for some more boring meetings that are a waste of time and money. They want to pump us up but I think our balloon has a hole in it.

Just a thought...maybe they are preparing for all the national acconts that are going to be hitting the docks real soon.

Another driver told me that the latest meetings had to do with the GPS roll out. Yawn

Frankie, I bet if they gave you a 100 dollar bill every morning, a empty trailer and a new truck and told you to just ride around the city all day you would find something wrong or something you don't like about it.:biglaugh:

Yea, what he said. Kind of like the purchase drivers slowly replacing road drivers. Within a year or two, they will only need shuttle drivers to get the freight to the hubs so the purchase can run:TR10driving03:??????????

We're getting hammered with freight at our Pocono Summit hub. I'm seeing alot of YRC freight being moved accross our dock. They just hired more guys. Go FedEx !!!!

I'm willing to give it a try!

Until they see how PT works in the NW winter. These guys can hardly back up. Navigating Snoqualmie with chains and wind? I'll buy the popcorn for that show.

I will be willing too bet that the something that is up is that some are not hitting their gate time, frt is late getting down the road and they shot their foot off when they layed all the part times off and knocked the full timers down too part time.I knew this, heck all of us knew this was coming. They are going too have to hire FULL time dock works and pay these guys good pay inorder to get productive work. They are going to have to realize that the old days of dock workers and shuttle guys working together were actually a good idea.I can remember the days when we came in at 1am and got ready for these shuttle drivers to arrive and by 4-4:30 they were all gone back to their respective terminals and we started on the P&D frt. These supervisors and mngmt in these terminals where there are late depatures and holding bills have got to get it together.I know it can be done, because it has been done before.
