XPO | useing a con-way truck to haul your own stuff

If it's not taking space that could be used, the labor in putting it on the truck is your own (I concede the maybe using forklift) and the trailer is heading to your own barn, what would it hurt? As long as FOS or SCM knows and it's not a every day or week thing?

Just asking.

Sounds like you don't know the whole story. I'd either let it go or ask the guy about it. Oh, to the guy who's watching his back at all times, what are you doing that you think that's necessary? If you're clean, who cares if there's a busybody watching you?
P.S. I used a company tractor and 48' van to move relatives while at another place. That probably would've caught your attention!

Im not doing anything wrong, but with the companies rules and policies changing when they feel necessary, you constantly have to mind your p's and q's. Make sure you follow all the rules cause theres always someone there to point it out if you make a mistake. And with the harrasment rules, you have to be careful what you say and do because theres very sensitive people out there.

Understood. I know what you mean about the changing policies. I have seen a couple people at different terminals who are very eager to let an FOS know when someone has had a minor incident (dropping trailer on the landing gear, etc...) before the person involved has a chance to say it himself!

Yep, there is always someone out there trying to one up you.

is it ok to pick something up for your self on company time and haul it back to your barn? is that not stealing services from con-way? i just happen to see an erie city driver do that on 9/15. should i call the GO? to see what the policy is:Rulz:
Yes, By all means, We can never have enough (Snitches).:eck13:

There's at least one at every barn. We have one here who is just as bad. Always has his nose in everyone's business and trying to boss around the guys below him. I told him off one day in front of 3 other guys and he went and cried to the SCM about it. Luckily our SCM is pretty level headed and basically told him to quit being a baby... :loser:

Some people are just little be-atches. You can't change them. Someone always jealous of everyone else. They want what others have and don't care if they step on your toes to get it. Throw a sack over their head, throw them in a trailer and off across the country somewhere. People suck and you just can't stop it.

My opinion is, if it isn't out of his route/way, and he's not taking up space that would've been for P&D customers, what's the difference? We get few benefits (and less all the time), and who's getting hurt in this deal?
Now, if it's every day, if the guy's running a business out of his city tractor...then yeah, that's a problem.
We don't know the whole story, but I'd give the guy a break before I call GO, and earn a rep for being a back stabbing weasel that can't be trusted over something that might be nothing. Which runs along with what many before me had said: Mind your own business. If you choose not to, be prepared for the consequences of a false accusation, and/or the reaction of your peers when word gets out (and it will.)

In a day and age where it seems like the company is out to get you at every turn, one would think this is a time when people need to stick together, watching each others backs. Not for reasons to narc out and move up, but to protect one another. Company i work at, we are all pretty tight. The running idea is that as long as it doesn't cost us our job, or kill someone, we got each other covered.

trust me, it will get out. When I worked at CCX I would have sworn that the outbound crew had a microphone or something in the office, they knew what was going on (sometimes before the FOS' knew). And if you got the reputation as a narc, well, your job just became 100% harder.

Bottom line guy, unless you saw something that could get someone physically hurt, well, it really isn't worth getting yourself into an uproar over. Just think back to when you were a little kid and you ran to your parents because of something your little brother/sister or friend did... is this being honestly worried about someone/something? or is this being a tattle tale?

Am guessing your co-workers care about production. I am envious.

Our leaders are unable, or just as likely, unwilling to instill any semblance of team at Conway which cultivates the attitude you address. It's a shame because the potential to make this a great place to work is astronomical.

I picked up a transmission for another P&D driver at a repair shop that we pickup and deliver to on regular bases and nobody said a word. At the end of my shift when I broke out my trailer I sit it out on dock and he loaded in his pickup at the end of his shift.

I don't know what SC you work at, but don't you think that's kind of risky..? If everybody did this, wouldn't somebody think you were stealing stuff?? I don't conduct any personal business at work. I keep it all Con-way business.

The rule is to make sure your fos knows about it. The other day I delivered to a customer that was selling things cluttering up his warehouse. I called dispatch told them about the deals, it was my last stop, so I picked up some stuff for them also. As long as it doesn't stop you from doing your job, and doesn't prevent making a pickup that needs to be done, and you check with your FOS first, it's ok. Basic rule of thumb, unless it's hurting you, or someone else, leave it alone. If you had to cover his pickups because he was screwing around, then yeah say something, but if you nor the company suffered then why would you even consider telling on someone. Come on, didn't you learn not to be a tattle tale as a child?

If it took longer than 1 second to load or unload and reload they could call it theft of time.....but its none of my business!!!! I just cant believe that the guy that started this thread would even ask if it was ok to rat on another driver.....never mind I can believe it..

Go ahead and squeal. There is little teamwork at Conway and your actions will make it that much harder to develop. - When we get leaders capable of developing it.......

I don't see a problem with that as long as it don't happen all the time. Now management might think differently.
