When I ran E/B yrs. ago I could get my truck serviced at any terminal shop while I was on break. Now I'm fresh back on E/B (run cut) and a shop guy told me I have to get it done at the shop it's assigned to (010). We don't have a shop at my barn and who knows how long it will be before I break at 010. Any you other guys having this problem? I can't understand why I can't get it done at any E shop while I'm taking hours.

never had that problem. I always tried to get my truck PMd when I was out. Mine is assigned to Dallas. Mine blew the turbo the other night, waited a week to get it back and wrote a bunch of other stuff up on it, and even called the shop myself to tell them all the things wrong with it. when I got it back, (hub driver picked it up for me) had oil blown all over the engine compartment and none of the other stuff I wrote up on it was fixed, they even had the part for one of my trucks problems there at the shop and they didnt even replace it. Thats why I dont like dallas working on my tractor

Try to get it serviced at a large break I can recommend westsex harrisburg or atlanta they are usually cool about working on trucks. If you are lucky enough Albany GA or Orlando will do their best if they have parts on hand. Indy is ok and FWIW STAY AWAY FROM THE ALLENTOWN SHOP just my 2 cents . BTW my opinion of estes maintenance is "damn driver you want us to fix it and pay you to drive it?" Maybe you could slide the mechanic a 20.

Sounds like the shop foreman that told me I had to get it PM'd at the shop it's assigned to just did'nt want to do it. I thought that sounded kinda strange.
It's pretty stupid for my truck to sit 10+ hrs. beside a E shop when it's due a oil change but they won't do it just 'cause it's a 010 tractor in the screen.

I got a idea.....Next time I get caught in a long lay-over with a shop maybe they'll pay me to do it myself.
Hey Richmond what's the trip sheet work code for doing a tractor PM?

pm

i dont worry about it . if they want to service they will call when they are ready. it has estes on the side door not mine. me not worry much about it.:shift:

Mine was 40,000 miles overdue last go round. They put the service due date inside the door on the drivers side. I just found that out not long ago. I'm beginning to think it may be our job to check the fluid levels and tire pressure and stuff like that also. Wheeew! It probably won't be long until they start asking us to stay awake during the saftey meetings.

What I found was the best way to deal with PM's, is... You get on truckingboards in a really bad mood, and you justBeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeP.
Hello?.......Hello?....................Hello???? :TR10driving03::TR10driving03::TR10driving03:

you know guys if we are going to be the driver and the secretary maybe doing our own maintenance isn't far off......I don't know about you but I don't want to give them any ideas

Big E drivers are the most entitled spolied ******* on earth... lol...Seriously they are starting this thing where pm's are assigned to certain shops. Besides how much will you complain when the service turns up some major faults on your truck and you end up in one of estes premium pieces of equipment, the loaner truck for a week or so? .lol I can see u guys:ranting2: then. Wait.. u do.

Well as it turns out they have assigned my truck to the 014 shop which is a good thing because they are IMO one of the best shops in this area.
014 has a hub driver that shuttles our trucks up there now when the PM is due.
So I get a call from my dispatcher telling me 014 is coming to get my truck for PM and are bringing me a sleeper loaner,.
That's a very fair deal when your running E/B so it's all good...

Extra board should have the same luxury as teams..Get the truck serviced,no matter where you are, plan and simple..One mechanic told me that an Estes truck can be serviced in 4 hours,max..Long as there is no follow-ups or warranty work needed...Our teams get their's serviced while they wait..No matter where they are..

KD. Did you make that call??

No I did'nt have a chance to, that night after we talked about it was when they came and got my truck.
I might have to do that on the next PM go around though.
I was in a 014 sleeper loaner all last week and looks like this week to 'cause they still have'nt sent my truck back to my barn.
I might get a chance to go thru there this week and do the swap back myself if I get on 81 and find out it's done.

I agree 1000%

What were supposed to check the oil and water, I thought that was the shops job!!!! I just get in and start her up and go hook my trl's and get the job done and go home...

Be careful starting the truck from the ground. I hit the starter button in a loaner once and it was left in gear with the brakes off. I never thought I could move so fast. Those folks need to leave the trucks out of gear and the brakes set. In the next saftey meeting I think I will let Mr. safe know how those careless folks are going to cause a driver to run himself over someday. :biglaugh:
