ABF | layoffs start in dayton

It won't be as easy for ABF as it was for YRCW. Remember that we will still have to vote on any concessions to the contract. ABF must be working day & night trying to come up with a proposal that they can sell to the IBT and the men.

well folks they have to compete

Compete yes,but there is all forms of competition.Treat the freight like its your own and get it there on time and damage free. Let them worry about selling the services.

ABF refuses to open it's books to the Teamsters..so that is why you haven't seen anything.

They want concessions...but not at the risk of "open book"

So, don't look for it.

No concessions, Get the Salesman to get out there and do what they are paid to do...SELL! Go after government contracts that ARE out there. Govt' contracts are set at cost + 28%. Really, does anyone think ABF really wants to grow? think about it. I think the Fort has a high, an unfounded, opinion of themself. Beware of 'Bean Counters' when calling the shots in any business. Their only concern is ROC(return on capital) and following the business matrix. Remember what major is one of the easiest in college? Business Management.

Alot of us already gave back already being laid off for most of the year. I wouldn't give back a nickle.I hope that they don't think that laying people off will make guys want to take a pay cut. They laid me off the week after I worked six trips and since then the guys still working are being ran like a dog.

Just a general comment for all Teamsters at ABF

ABF will make money again without taking money from us. They have been at this a long time to quote Bob Davidson " This ain't there first rodeo" . The people in Fort Smith know what they are doing. They know that if they force a pay cut then the good relationship that they have always had with their union employees will be ruined. ask any former CF, Preston, Yellow, Roadway employee that works at ABF about how they were treated before they came to ABF. There is no us against them mentality at ABF. We are all going to be ok. The company and us. Yes it has been a tough year or two especially if you got laid off but this season is almost over. I hope and pray that all laid off workers will be called back soon as some have already been called back. Maybe you ain't working hard enough for your 60,000 and 70.000 driving job. I feel like I earn my 50,000 on the dock. It would be an insult to me for them to ask me to work for less money. No offense but if you are working hard for them than you deserve every penny. You are working hard ain't you?
My buying power has gone down every year for over 10 years with my little 2% raises per year. You want me to work for less HELL NO!!:nono:

Was talking about how they treat you. roadway was always looking to give you a letter or a reason to fire you.

The terminal I work in is also employee friendly. Most of the supervisors/tm treat the people as people who have families that can have problems. The only ones who get the crap are the ones who deserve it.
