First and foremost....I'm glad everyone survived, regardless of the extent of the injury.
Secondly, Is this a contractor?

The crash was so violent that it ripped the cab of the UPS semi right off of its frame.....

A passenger in the UPS big rig, who was in the sleeper of the cab at the time, managed to escape the wreck without injury.....

The UPS Freight driver suffered head injures and was taken in good condition to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton with non life-threatening injuries. He will likely receive a citation for speeding

UPS 18-wheeler jack-knifed in Utah

One hurt in I-84 crash involving two semi trucks

The front of the trailer does say truckload. All the possible combinations UPSF runs, it's anyone's guess who was pulling it.

Gee I had a weather related jackknife a few moths before I retired.
My day cab hung a sharp left into the side of my 48 foot route trailer,on a very icy road,in a 70 mph wind, that I thought was going to roll me over instead of jackknifing.

I wrote on my crash report the only way I could have avoided that crash was to have stayed home.

Thank God UPS Freight safety gave me a non-preventable.

I said all that to say I just had a broken air foil, and some dents,I've never in all of my 45 year trucking career ever seen a jackknife that ripped the cab off the frame like this one?

Yes, But this was a high speed crash before it jacked knifed. Clipping the rear end of another tractor trailer will do it.

Looks like a contractors equipment, All truckload ssd euipment is branded that I have seen.
If you look at the first (top) picture...
you will see the UPS acorn on the roof of the tractor,
between the windshield and the window on the ceiling of the bunk.

Of course we cant see the doors on any of these views.

Theres a UPS Shield on top of whats left of the sleeper, in the first picture. Its a white columbia, truckload company truck.

This is a truckload tractor and trailer but I believe this being a team operation that it may be with NAAFS which is a division of truckload that hauls mail freight or it could be a dedicated run for one specific account. Normal truckload drivers have Volvo's that are either blue, two tone brown or white. Rumor is we are getting Freightliners which is what this truck was. We have Freightliners trucks which used to be with WDS which is Worldwide Dedicated Services and some of their accounts were taken over by truckload and so their employees came with them.

Actually these Freightliners have been in service with NAAFN (Truckload) since 2007.The Blue ones are old SSD tractors transferred to Truckload. The remaining units needed were split between new White Acorn-Logo Volvos and Penske lease units for Truckload. They do dedicated long-distance for UPS Cartage.:shift:

The name SSD is no longer officially used and has been replaced by "UPS Freight Truckload".
I believe the tractor may have sideswiped a flatbed trailer, shearing off the right-side cab mounts so when the jackknife occurred, the cab was pushed off from the frame rather easily. This is only my opinion as a driver.
