Why for the last 20 years have our leaders not been aggressively organizing non-union freight companies? Did they drop the ball?
 
it hasnt taken 20yrs that question has been asked at 776 meetings and they have no answer. our old president's answer was "where were you when we organzied these we have now years ago"

I would have told him, " I was in high school, whats the freakin point? do your GD job!" :ranting2:
 
this is and will be the primary reason for the failure of the Teasters in the freight industry. it's a sad reality my friends.

The point that I was trying to make was that Organizing should be a constant process. Not one to be asked when things turn down hill.
 
We can't do anything about the last 20, But we can still do for now and at this point we can't organize freight untill we RE-ORGANIZE freight. To get members we have to clean our house of Hoffa and most of the current B.A.'s and rebuild by getting the pension, healthcare and wages strong again, bringing back some pride to the teamsters and then we can ask others to join us.
 
Since Hoffa has been in office the number are on a unbelievable decline..The IBT is slowly destroying union trucking..Start looking now for a new job .Oh thats right hoffa organized UPS FREIGHT.. $15 to start with ups taking care of the pension..Oh great job Hoffa.Keep up the good work maybe organize some more cops..

Let see 107 just organized the Middle Twp,Bucks County,P.A. dog catchers. Yes that is right dog catchers,and the Bristol Twp.School District cafeteria workers.No Lie!!!!
 
I agree with trying to organize more in the trucking business, but as stated before we really need to clean house from top,down. WE as current members need to get envolved in our local's activities and make a stand and reform for what we think is right.

All I do is "surf" and watch union blogs and trucking site...I know what a hobbie. But I feel we as Union memebers are at a point of Do or Die we the Teamsters. And Yes Hoffa must GO.
I also get upset when they do oragnize cops, Nurses and we speak out against this WHY?? Isn't the union about the working class and being treated fair in the work place, good wage and everything we as members expect to get as Teamsters..So let them join the brotherhood. But I would hope they are being put in the teamsters health and welfare plans and retirement.
As far as the trucking industry goes...it will be a while before we can get back into this because of all the bad press that is going around and of what damage has been done in the past. But I would like to see it come back strong like it was in the 70's (before my time)

Time for change...dumb hoffa and lets take our union back and move it forward..

thank you, if i had the money it takes i would run against hoffa...but he is our enemy now and not our leader

Good idea, where's the money coming from? Forget about cleaning the house of Hoffa and most of the BA's? Why not all of the BA's? none supported the no vote. What freight company in their right mind would want to organize now? They are all making more money and got a job in the future. You can't say the same for YRC

did u ever hear of deregulation. that what happened to all the good old teamster jobs. its not about the jobs anymore it all about me. just ask someone 2 stop 4 a coffee sometime. too busy got 2 get ahead of the other guy. GREED it so hard 2 want 2 b ateamster today.
