enemy within

I might agree he is not a crock but he is someone whos head is bigger than his job. He has managed to ruin a lot of teamsters lives while we still have to keep paying dues for his paycheck.
Tyson wears a suit and a tie and hasn’t had to so much as lift a finger for many years. Hes a business man making his huge checks off the sweat of labor, we are beneath him and mere pawns in his game. Power Corrupts Those Who Possess It.

what am I afraid of personally? Nothing; I've been gone a year. I Moved on to another great job. Well. I do guess I Fear the pension failing.....

Overall tho, my greatest fear is for the thousands of dockworkers who have no other skill, and have their budgets set on Teamster wages. Add in many drivers with bad health, bad records, or bad attitudes. Where will they go? Especially in this economy that the Administration is causing massive unemployment in? I'm afraid they will become simple statistics, added to the stack of pawns used in Washington's Chess Game towards more Marxism.......

also that nons will think twice to hire a union guy..if something were to happen ....there will be opportunities elsewhere..the freight will go somewhere...right...

The only thing we can all do is plan for the future. Make the cuts in our own lives to try to compensate for something that seems to be inevitable. Try to pay down debts and save up to pay for our living expenses... sell off toys and such that cost more than they are worth... prepare for the worst while we all hope for the best. I don't think any of us WANTS YRC to fail.... but it does seem like the way of the future...

Do you hear that Mr. Anderson.... that is the sound of inevitability:

A CDL with a hazmat and triples Endors. with peddle experience is worth it's weight in gold if still young, no accidents or injuries. Even with the nons.

Did you have to throw the "young" part in there and ruin it for me??? :TR10driving03:

Here where I my new job, they seem to love greybeards! I'm 55- driving bigtrucks since 70 after school/on weekends; over the road since 75. (knocking on wood) last ticket 85; last chargable, 77. They scooped me up pronto. They have guys here that make me look like a kindergartner. A couple of 3 million-milers; one 4 million-miler. A whole passle of 2 million-milers..... not very many yougins' at all, really......You have loads of experience-- I'm sure you'll do fine!

Driving long-haul is a different story. One does what he has to do to pay bills but peddling freight is job where they want fairly young dudes. No one older than mr. jdawgett

I forgot to add 'no attitude' to the list

I think it was my 22 years of doing the local stuff for Preston and Yellow that sealed the deal for me. Needed experience when it comes to backing into alleys in Washington DC at rush hour; down alleys in Providence , RI; thru cemeteries in Pittsburgh, Pa. -- dealing with Funeral Directors at Funeral Homes.......

Gotta do lift-gate deliveries of 350 lbs caskets. Pull, wrestle, drag, whatever it takes to get them to the back and into the customer! Not just drop and hook anymore....

Well good thing you got out because the WORLDS LARGEST RETAILER has now taken that away also , Wal-Mart Starts Selling Caskets, Urns Online - ABC News
The world's largest retailer wants to keep its customers even after they die.
Wal-Mart has started selling caskets on its Web site at prices that undercut many funeral homes, long the major seller of caskets.

The move follows a similar one by discount rival Costco, which also sells caskets on its site.

Wal-Mart, based in Bentonville, Ark., quietly put up about 15 caskets and dozens of urns on its Web site last week.

Prices range from $999 for models like "Dad Remembered" and "Mom Remembered" steel caskets to the mid-level $1,699 "Executive Privilege." All are less than $2,000, except for the Sienna Bronze Casket, which sells for $3,199.

Caskets ship within 48 hours. Federal law requires funeral homes to accept third-party caskets..................

That's funny I started off doing long haul. I thought I liked to drive till I started with Chemical Leaman. They're gone now. Way too many miles. Life on the road is not good for everyone. But a lot will have to go when unemployment runs out. Anything is better than losing the house

Been reading your threads....I really hope everything at YRC turns out ok..For your information, The 2 best OTR Truckload outfits out here are Conway Truckload and Averitt Truckload....everyone else is blowing smoke. I run with Averitt Truckload and have no real complaints..good luck

Are the caskets loaded or empty, and do you dead head a lot.
