XPO | 01/02/2010 linehaul runs

YRC's not going anywhere for at least a year unless their customers all go away. They haven't even gone chpt.11 yet never mind chpt.13.

I cannot believe there isn't more outrage over this.
Not one guy I talked to last night was the least bit happy about this.
As we're told, Saturday will be just like it was Thursday night. There's none of this, "volunteer from the top and force from the bottom" business. our #1-#30+ guys are told, "Saturday is a linehaul day. Be at your FAC by noon."

These are not just some little day time drop-n-hooks, this is running the FAC. Everyone, dock starts, hostlers, FOSs.... everyone. Just like a regular night. So prepare for a nice 12-14 hour day. Awesome huh?

I think it's a load of crap, and that CGO could not possibly care less about anyone who works outside that building.
IF YRC closes (and that's a BIG 'if') do you think working that day will get us ahead? No, but working that day will certainly destroy more goodwill toward Con-Way and take morale lower than ever.

I agree with a previous poster, that CGO TRIES to think of ways to alienate and irritate DSRs; simply because they can.

Plus, just think of the holiday pay they won't have to pay guys who don't come in Saturday. This is a win-win for CGO.

For being so anti-Un**n, it certainly seems like they want to see how far they can push before there's serious talk of it.

I'd have bet $100 that the switchboard at CGO was lit up like a Christmas tree today with complaints, but apparently I'm mistaken. I can't believe guys get upset about assigned trucks, or "he left before I did...waaahhh!!"--- yet complacently accept having your 3 day weekend turned into a $hit sandwich.

Me, I'd rather work Thursday or Friday night, instead of having my whole Saturday kicked in the face.

But hey, maybe I don't see the 'big picture.'

Someone in a coma could boost morale better than people at CGO are handling things.

It's not a matter of weather or not we have enough freight for a Sat. FAC. It boils down to how little respect XGO has for its drivers. This has been a scheduled long weekend for many a driver making plans with their family all year long. To just come out on Mon 12/28 and say cancel your weekend plans is insane, no matter how much or little seniority you have with conway. They take and we give..and we give and they take...if YRC goes down like they are hoping...God help us all.

How on earth can they predict how much freight we are going to have. There is going to be alot of customers closing at noon on Thursday. How many times do the morons tell us that there is going to be a 2 hour delay and we are slow and its unneeded. They are just hoping. Thats all nothing less. It's pretty bad they hope instead of respecting their employees

Personally i understand where some drivers are upset with having to run Saturday when a guy/gal has made plans with family or friends for the 4 day weekend, then told Monday night that they have to be available to run Saturday. But personlly I don't think that they will need everyone, I don't think it will be as heavy as they think it will be and since i have nothing planned, I will volunteer to run so that some of you will not have too. I will be willing to run to NKX or XGH Saturday morning and enjoy some quiet time in the big truck at 62 MPH and sip on my blue kool-aid and make a little more money than originally planned in order to do my part and make some of you happy by not having to run. Man..., I tell ya, I am here for you!...LOL. Have a good Holiday weekend everyone and be safe out there.

what did they say when you called ??

people at cgo need to pull there heads out of there, well you know, what freight will we have sat. morning, what little bit of freight thats picked up thu., give me a break, this all has to do with YRC, there not going away any time soon like cgo thinks.wheres the cards, i'll sign!!!!!

YRC has a card you can sign.

Wow. Are we actually complaining because we have enough freight to need weekend runs? I don't see how this is any different from running Saturday on any other weekend.

Yes, they are complaining because we have work. Wow, can you imagine if they were laying off people about now how people would feel? Come on guys, having work on the weekend is a positive thing.

They couldn't possibbly run all that freight on Monday night. Not enough drivers or trailers, with all the freight we now have. Would you rather run on New Year's Eve. Not me.

See that's the problem, I would rather work on Saturday then New Year's eve or New Year's day. There are a lot of people out there that feel the same way. See, no matter what you do, you can't make everyone happy. I just don't want to be on the roads with the crazies, it is just not as safe as running on Saturday.

I'm with you Bigfoot.

If we are going to work then I sure as hell don't want to run New Years Eve or New Years Day (make me miss the ball games and I will be setting on Big John's desk come Mon. morning...:mfight::Duel::hysterical:)...

I am a loss wondering where the hell the think all this freight is going to come from on New Years Eve?...

Most of my customers are shut down...the auto plants are down so no freight for them...hell most everybody is done on Weds save for a few die hards and that isn't going to amount to much at least in my neck of the woods.

But if these dilrods want to put $20 bills in my pocket for essentially doing nothing I am all for it...

Rat

Be happy you have work... Would you rather run Saturday or be in line for food stamps?? Like some other trucking companies... Remember one thing Con-Way is known for great customer service!! I am on the other hand of it just not a driver's wife... One reason Y_ _ "you fill in the blanks" stock is 1 dollar is because their customer service and people skills are 0%.... FYI- from both sides!

Its only gonna effect the ones who are forced from the bottom to run. If your one of the unfortunate ones on the bottom that are forced to run, you'll be one of many on the bottom that are whining about not getting any hours or runs in a month or so. Be glad they are forcing 20 dollar bills in your pockets now.

I'll gladly work Saturday. I was one of the unfortunate to get laid off this time last year with a different company..

Some of you are panzy's........do your job. Thats all there is to it. I am sure one of those pot head part timers would love to get a cdl and run saturday.

Yes, I'd rather work new years eve vs interrupting my long weekend. Just get it over with right away. H*ll, they put us out on the road in 14 inches of snow and blizzard conditions....y not put us out there with all the drunks on new years eve??!!:shift:
We were originally told that saturday was in fact a LH day and work would only be offered to LH drivers...that didnt go over well....once the Employee Relations Supervisor was called that was shot down....now it is as it should be for saturday work.....ask from top...force from bottom. :nutkick:

Some of you guys think the company is on purpose trying to "alienate" and "irritate" DSR's. I find that notion laughable and would suggest that perhaps they're planning ahead for a possible YRC bankruptcy filing in the event they can't make a 19M dollar interest payment due on Jan 1, 2010.

I figure that the company is looking at the possibility of a void in the freight moving system should some of YRC's accounts bolt on news of an impending bankruptcy. Like any good company, they want to be there with trucks and drivers to pick up the freight sitting on docks waiting for a YRC driver that doesn't show up. Imagine the missed opportunity to get a larger slice of a shrinking freight market pie, should the worst happen for YRC. There will be competition for the spoils if the big Y goes down, shouldn't we be there to get our chunk?

Please, stop the crabbing and maybe count your blessings because the company you work for is aggressively working the freight market and keeping our trailers full of freight and our drivers on the road. BTW, I've also been informed that I can expect to run on Saturday and even though I'd rather be home, I'll do it with my best foot forward.

:hide: I am kinda out of the loop here, but..

If Conway is running L/H on Sat. instead of New Years Eve:beerchug:driving03:, asking from the top and forcing from the bottom, good for them.
Announcing it on the 28th BAD! :smilie_132:

I think you better get your facts straight. The reason they are in the boat they are is because of **** poor managing and the upper management sucking the company dry.

Dodge I am talking from personal experience it is a mixture of everything with that company. I had a Y__ customer service call me a not so nice name and drivers are rude. So my facts are straight thanks for checking though:)
