HEY IM GLAD I GOT A JOB Butttt, Iv'e worked no less then 55hrs a wk for the last 7 months. And I like to enjoy any time I'm givin. But its not right no matter how you look at it that CITY DRIVERS get two days off for the new year holiday and the linehaul gets off 4. These numers dont show fairness Hold on a minute while I get more TISSUE !!!!!!!!:shift:SATURDAY TRUCKING

not sure what company you are working for but here at ConWay LH is working saturday and some terminals even worked this evening doing dock work, you say not fair to work no less than 55 hours a week.....I say count your blessings that you have a job that needs you to work 55 hours plus in a week, sure beats being laid off! I may be new to this company, but it seems like there an entitlement issue, IM OWED EVERYTHING, from most drivers and then theres also the tissue fund........might be why ICP is gone....they have spent WAY too much buying tissues to dry the eyes of whiny drivers and wipes to wipe there butts cuz they are a bunch of babies! FAIRNESS has never been spoken and its life, but atlest we all get paid weekly!! you take the good with the bad, and if not, theres always other trucking companies out there, go work for YRC, and see if u have a job next week, next month, I would rather know Im secure and NEEDED at my job.

My husband works 70 hours, doesn't include any time off the clock while still at work. Drive home, eat and pass out. Do again until Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday get home at noon. Eat, pass out, too tired to do anything. Monday sleep most of the day, eat and go to work.

LH= more money - time

P&D = less money + more time.

It's a trade off. Either way you are compensated either by more money or more time.

Exactly, linehaul suck:eck13: but you get PAID!!! City sucks less so you only get paid. Thats why I like to hostle, hardly sucks at all but you have to do it for next to nothing:shift:

Yup, exactly right. I bid line-haul again next year - maybe one or two more years then back to P&D. At my current terminal, I would be 8th in line for day line-haul - probably would have made it on by the summer.

I go the best of both worlds. 240 total miles, 10 1/2 hour nights. I could go where ever I want but I'm tired of beating myself to death. Oh yea, I hate the city.

tireddriverswife said it..... I'm coming off linehaul after 10 years... I've had it. No weekends, missing fishing, time with the wife and grand daughter, just had enough. Now they are changing us back to a 60 hr. week, too many experienced drivers bidding off linehaul because the 70 hr week is just too much. Up here, I'll be loosing about 25 grand a year, but I don't care. Just want to be home every night, and not sleeping away what little weekend I have.

Where are they changing to a 60 hr week and why?

we were not given the details. The bidding process was stopped half way through, they re-adjusted the linehaul bids and added an extra one. We were told that with yellow on the edge, they felt they would need an extra run. As for the 70hr switch to 60, don't know. I do know that I was asked a few times to stay on linehaul, but I have learned.... when we went to the 70 hr week, we were told that we should be running no more than 63 hrs a week. Have run 70 most weeks. I can almost bet that these guys will be running 70 hrs when they decide to go back to it again.

well i do not know where you are from. I do know that the south has 70 hour work week. (guess it is to off set the pay from CCX people) west does too. we aways have had a 60 hour work week. i have been on the road for all my years here only worked 60 hours a few times.. manage the hours and it is all good! report to work for mu pull time, home usually around the same time. have a 2.5 days weekend All good. Eat supper with my family and with the two hour friday night back up i we go out for a friday night fish fry. Our city drivers never know when they are getting home.... I figure that is trucking....... Happy new year; now let's do some serious trucking

I'm in manitoba, just north of fargo. Several zones and terminals in minnesota and north dakota have been on 70 hours since last oct/08. not sure if it's everyone switching back, or just us.

Nothing wrong with that. Pretty sure I'll be able to keep it around 11 hours per night this year running around 400 miles. It's a little further than I would prefer but I like the drive and weather to the destination.

The last two weeks were three day work weeks...which I logged 42 hrs each week....a five day week I usually do 66 to 70 hrs on a 60 hr log book....not logging but 60...get picked up with no hrs regularly...would love a 55 hr week, but am trying to pay off the mortgage early.....CaMOOOON!!

WOW a 60 hour book.......whats that? we run a 70 hr week. Been here 11yrs spent 6 of those P&D. Dont think i could go back because of the way things are being ran now. I did bid a shorter run so i could have more time at home but if need be i can stay on the dock a little longer to make my money.
