----- Proper English

In this world of hi-tech, I have noticed that many who text messages and email have forgotten the "art" of capitalization. Those of you who fall into this category, please take note of the following statement:

'Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.'

I cannot stress enough that proper use of grammar can be most important!

I have noticed that many who text messages and email have forgotten the "art" of capitalization

Do you mean "Who text message and e-mail have forgotten"?

J/K dude, I couldn't resist, usually when some of these knot heads can't think of a come back to an insult they decide to turn to spelling or grammar and slam a guy for that, its grasping for straws if you ask me, to each his own I suppose.

Is it text message or text messages? I have noticed many who text messages,is what you said. Shouldn't it be I have noticed many of you that have sent text messages? Maybe it should be I have noticed many who text message. I believe you have to put the verb in the sentence for plurality.

It's it's, not its. Nice run-on sentance by the way. ;)

Oh yeah, it's grasping at straws, not for. I can't stop.

Yea, yea, I like long sentances, I'm in good shape, got alot of wind..LOL..as for the straws, I can grasp for a straw, or grasp at one, I prefer to grasp for them, in my mental state, it makes me think I will get one eventially, I want that for everyone, we all should have a straw, if I'm grasping at them then it seems like a bad dream where I'm trying to get the straw but just can't reach it..I shudder to think about it!!

My elbow hurts, I slipped in the freezer today and fell on my elbow, damn ice..stupid freezer..both inanimate objects, but still..

Okay, I have held quiet for as long as I can. What the heck is "dodn't"?

On another forum, I received a PM from a member wanting help with customizing his Droid X. No capitalization, too many abbreviations to count, and I had no idea what he was asking. I replied with a suggestion to type out his words so that anyone familiar with American English could understand.

For that you get a B-. Ha!

Normally so long as I can understand the point the author of a post is trying to make, I can over look the misspelled words, punctuation, and capitalization. Then there are those people who want to make a point of what we need like the author of this post. (Why we need "Grammer" Police) and he misspelled the word GRAMMAR, or did I miss a meeting. TP

asjdg;ahgioahgioha[oidsfgua[oijg'lkkfjnv/,ZKv;oii8, Guardrail, thats what I think in a nut shell. Thanks for the passing grade, I should get an A+ for this one and I will accept nothing less!!!!

I'm not perfect. Never said I was. I do try. I proof read most of my comments several times before posting. First to get spelling and punctuation as close to correct as I can. Second to get things worded the way I want so my point comes across the way I want it to.
Not unusual to spend a bit of time getting it right and then not posting because I know some of you will resond with a smart remark.

In my defense....I received the post in an e-mail. Reminded me of the "grammar" threads on the board so I copied and pasted it for the humor in it.
Being a copy and paste I sent it without the usual "proof read". Soon as it posted and I saw the subject line.....SH%$!!!!!

"Text"..... "message" .....and "e-mail"....... Plural or not plural. Depends on if the word is used as a noun or a verb.
My guess would be in the original post. "Text" is a verb and "messages" would be a noun. E-mail" would be a verb. The plural on "messages" would be correct.
Can't believe I slept through most of my classes so I could grow up to drive a truck and I still learned a little something.

Many posts on the board are rants and raves about important issues. Many of us agree with the rant. If it's hard for others on the board to understand the rant or take it serious because of spelling and punctuation, do you think management types take it serious?

I doubt they do. A guy goes off about how stupid the educated numbers pushers are and the poster doesn't know the difference between "are" and "our", "their" and "they're", etc.....
Managers aren't sitting there saying "This guy is right." "We need to fix this problem."
They're sitting there scartching their heads. "Did this guy graduate high school?" "How did he get a CDL?" "How did he get through our hiring process?"
