FedEx Freight | National Busted

It has nothing to do with their company senority. It's all based on friggen job class senority. Some genius in Harrison though that was a great idea so both sides could feel the pain

come on driver,if that is happening, then they need to contact harrison hr.but the way they done this when they bought watkins was to give us are job seniority as of the day we started with wafkins.if an employee stated as a p&d driver and done that 4 ten years then went to linehaul 4 ten,he has 20 yrs.total.but only ten years as linehaul with freight.so most likely some of these guy's at littlerock came from memphis and were linehaul drivers for 22yrs.with watkins and now have 26 with fedex.22 at the day they bought us plus 4 from that time.so if there is any exwatkins driver ahead of a freight driver in littlerock it is only 1 maybe 2 that had been with watkins 22yrs.plus 4 sence the buyout.I understand that 1 in front of another is 1 to many, but in the sceme of thing with the runs freight has and what national is bringing, no one is getting hurt. because of the economy.if the merger was'nt in the plans, those who have been unemployed would have most likely been, way before now.

Mr Breeze, where have you been? It happened exactly how I outlined it. Why do u think I'm so pissed. I never begrudged anyone from getting what they deserve but my God man! how in the world do you justify this debacle ?

FX doesn't have to justify anything it's their ball, their game, if you don,t like go find another game.

I think its called something like employee relations, if I were an owner of a company, I would lean toward keeping my people happy by sticking to one fair plan, one that had been put in place and stayed there, not change things like I change my boxers, happy people are productive people, unhappy people, well..some of them may just want to screw things up for the sake of doing so, or out of spite.

When will these big outfits realize happy people produce? Fear gets nothing but negative results...I ought to go on the road and teach employee relations, I could make a small fortune!!

when american freight became fedex they kept their seniority , the same deal was made with watkins, all employees keep seniority. i think we should have a bid once a year and one board. and everyone should know all (dock, plpd and linehaul)

I was afraid of this. As we get closer to the merge date reality is setting in and the anger issues or coming back. I don't think there will ever be a true relaxed atmosphere amongst the drivers after the merge. There was no right way that would have made everyone happy in this. If the would have put National at the bottom,Yes Freight guys would be glad,But you would have guys here with 25 years now at the bottom. Could have been the other way around and they merged Freight with National and all the Freight guys would be at the bottom. So it made since to do it the most fair way a corporation could do this and not affect more than it did. There would be effected people no matter what FedEx did. I for one wish Watkins would of never sold to Fedex but they did and we wasn't at the table to know what the bargaining deal was if the two was to merge. I'm effected because there closing my facility and the closest one we where offered is 90 miles away. Can't and wont sell a house in this economy so I have to commute back and forth everyday.

There doing it all over
HR at freight needs to investigate this
I know of several watkins drivers who quit and came back 6 mos later only to get there senority back
also how does a national local driver transfer to line at freight ahead of freight local drivers who want the job ?
seems to be a whole bunch of B/S going on here
with more comming to light every day

YA This is also going on at freight terms to , dock workers getting to transfer to road in front city guys and dock workers dont even have cdl thats crap

You have to have a CDL to drive a commercial truck. A lot of dockworkers have been through the apprentice driving program to get there CDL.

this is it! if a city guy with 10 yrs.changes job class at the same time a dock worker with a cdl does,(that dock worker has 12 years) because of the job class the dockworker will be ahead of the p&d driver as a line haul(road driver)we all know that the stories are only half told by the affected story teller.they are doing this as careful as they can to avoid any lawsuits or trouble.this company is'nt perfect for everybody but is a hell of a place to work for most of us,so come driver and jump on the train to prosperity.don't listen to the disgruntle b/s.

I believe that is part of the appeal to fedex freight, is getting to choose which board your on. They don't have that at express, and you'll end up doing city or longhaul.

I'm not a big city driver fan, I like the open road, and there is too greater a chance of hitting something as a local guy.

I thought the bottom line rule was company seniority, then departmental seniority.

It depends on which day of the week it is, as to which set of rules they use!!!:couch:

It also depends on which center you work at, each center has a different set of rules!!!:1036316054:

Gee I see in another thread guys are making 40-50k a year, are they on a different train of prosperity?

No, just counts as of Fall of 2006 but their allowing them to skip ahead of folks who have less road seniority than they do. Example:

Fedex employee has 5 years with the company but has only been on the road for a year. National guy with 2 years service and 13 months road can come into freight and knock that guy outta a job

Ice just as an example for us at freight. If we had a big layoff I have 18yrs co. and 8 yrs. road. For bidding & vacation purposes I use my road seniority 8 yrs. which puts me #9. For layoffs I use my co. seniority 18yrs, which I move up too #3. So another words there are 6 drivers with more road seniority that would be laid off before me, if it came to a layoff. I think that's right and wouldn't that be the same thing.

When AF was bought, there was no FedEx Freight. So of course they would keep their seniority.

I was a dock worker 18yrs with CDLS.Been driven 14yrs,HARRISON will only let me use 14yrs on the board to merge. They said I could use 32yrs TTL FOR LAY-OFF'S or vacation time. This came from HARRISON NOT FREIGHT OR NTL SCM.
