FedEx Freight | National Busted

Ice just as an example for us at freight. If we had a big layoff I have 18yrs co. and 8 yrs. road. For bidding & vacation purposes I use my road seniority 8 yrs. which puts me #9. For layoffs I use my co. seniority 18yrs, which I move up too #3. So another words there are 6 drivers with more road seniority that would be laid off before me, if it came to a layoff. I think that's right and wouldn't that be the same thing.

Yes Sir! You are correct. So if company senority is considered on layoff determination , then why on Gods green earth is it being done assbackwards on the merge crap

Company seniority is for the most part worthless.
FedEx rarely lays off.
They just starve the bottom men out until they quit.
That way, no unemployment benefits are paid out.
You could have 100 years in with the company...and a guy with 6 months ahead of you on the board will work before you.

You can still get unemployment if you quit. You can get it if you are still employed and not working.

Not everything about Fedex is a conspiracy against you Mike.

I was wondering if the watkins guys are given company seniority from the date of hire as a contractor or o/o i have heard this is happening don`t know for sure

Watkins drivers apps were post dated to there hire date at Watkins. O/O were considered new hires. So there date stated the day they filled out the app.

Hire date as a company driver. O/O time counts for nothing. I personaly know 4 guys that were contractors before company and they all 4 verified this.

This is playing out to be a big mess. FedEx made the deal when they bought Watkin's 4 years ago but nobody knew that it would have the ramifications it does now. It is what it is. The old contractors have no company senority except for what they have got since becoming FedEx employees. You could make a case for them as some have 20+ years and have guys that hired into the company a couple months before the acquistion ahead of them, is that fair?

From what I see it appears that this whole fiasco is being driven by interpetation. The information presented is so limited and changing that it is a mess. I don't think anybody is intentionally screwing people but people are getting screwed on this. I really think the solution is to do a one time senority reordering of the boards once this is completed and leave it be at that. But even that wouldn't be fair to everybody. No matter what not everyone will be happy with this merger but I do think it could have been handled better.

Why is the o/o even being mentioned as they were contractors and by Federal Law not employees and therefore can not receive benefits including company seniority.
