Wow are we slow. We are doing from what I hear about 100 stops a day on the street, thats it. I hear our Night time work is extremely slow to. Not even a 100 bills a night.

I have worked 3 days this month so far. What the heck is going on. Is anyone else that slow to. Of course we did lose another account in the beginning of the year. Gave it to Estes and NEMF.

There are around 4-5 drivers off at our terminal everyday. Fedex and Conway are swamped as is Aduie. Maybe its really time to jump ship.

Curious as to whats up in everyone elses terminal. I know its winter but things are slower than any other year I have seen.

I know we have customers that wont use us if they have the choice. Why would you want to be told that we only go to their city once a week, and that yes their freight is on our dock but they are going to have to wait 5 days to get it, even though they are only maybe 75 miles away.

I dont get that. We do the same thing here. We have 1 driver that goes on the long 350 mile run 2 days a week. We have another driver who is only allowed to go this one town 1 day a week. This business would actually use us more if we went there more. That same town, we also lost a few other accounts there a while back because of it. Then, we take freight over to another company because the runs are way out there. They claim we take it there because theres no return freight. Funny just about every time I go over to the company I have freight to bring back. This place is messed up.

I just put my App in with Fed ex National. They are looking for drivers here. We will see what comes out of it. UPS is really messing things up here and its done nothing but get worse. I dont know how a company can afford to dictate things like they own the world to customers. When the customer are the ones to keep them in business.

Forget it. Time to move on. Unless someone can really twist my arm and make we stay. I am not working. I collect unemployment and I have to call everyday. BS, why cant you call me!! Ok im done ranting..

Weve slowed down quite a bit as well. The good thing is the city guys and roaddrivers that aren't getting to drive are working the dock. I've also seen in the past month new accounts we've picked up. We gained a few drop/swaps, one of which was a large YRC account.

We have the same situation with a far off peddle run, the thing is, its a decent sized city. UPS Freight uses a cartage company out there as well listing their terminal as a UPS Freight terminal. When sent out there, we have us teamster drivers fighting to get the same freight this cartage company is getting. I covered this run one day, that they had combined with another route to satisfy their numbers. I asked the dispatcher how I was gonna cover the pickups, he said don't worry we'll give 'em to the cartage company. Our steward has filed on it, but was told the Union couldn't do anything unless we actually had drivers sitting at home not working. Just another example of how the company doesn't take care of our customers!

Same thing here

Dead Dead dead

I been working average one day a week. No freight.

Other company's are out straight.

I wish Fed Ex was hiring around here!

I been using unemployment to get by for months

time to call your local nlrb office and tell them you want to do what the reno terminal is doing and file a labor charge against the company for violatiing article 44 of the contract. What do you need the union for? Do you guys want to want another year before anything is done?

Yes, freight is a bit slower with the economic conditions and being the slow time of the year at the same time but, from what I have seen is really no different than any of the other 30 years I have worked here, Its slow and the employee's with not much seniority on the bottom of the list struggle to get a full weeks work. Its no different at any other LtL company. The bottom employee's will always struggle to get work during the slow times, we have all been there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The employees who can survive the slow times and stay on board, will eventually gain enough seniority to work during the slow periods. The employee's who jump ship to other LtL companies will be in the same situation during the slow times.

Wouldn't FedEx rehire some of the thousands of employee's they laid off in 2009 before they hire out side of the company??

Dont believe everything you hear about competitors being swamped with freight. I fyou arent friends with drivers who are our competitors then they all say they are covered up....... I got some swamp land for sale and sky hooks by the way.

Adding to what BusterNite said.

There is also an imbalance of freight in our system and raising our rates as well as our competitors keeping theirs low and offering cut throat pricing is not helping.
UPS sees the decline and it appears they are more interested and head strong on pushing their whole portfolio of offerings rather than snagging an LTL shipment with deep discounting.

At my barn, we are steady on deliveries and busy on pick-ups, both volume and single shipments.
Our inbound usually dictates how slow the rest of the company is or might be.

As far as jumping ship right now, It's a tough career decision to make for the ones that are not working in those smaller terminals. That's something you might have to talk to your Steward/TM about to get specifics on what is really going on and what might be in the works at your barn. I'd hate to see you guys jump ship, only to find out something was brewing that you didn't know about and now the guys/gals that were below you are working consistently. I've seen it happen before at other terminals.
