What kind of problems has anyone heard about? At our barn we have 1 and 1 on the way. The one we have now has @ 2500 miles on it and it has been regenerated 3 times already. Supposedly because they use it in the city and the exhaust gets plugged up from stop and go so much and shutting off the engine so much. I feel they would of been better off re manufacturing the old equipment like they do the trailers instead of buying a headache and problems. Nothing new from management.

thank your federal government for the regeneration issues. Even the newest series of Sterlings are having pollution control issues. Diesels just can't burn that clean when used in a real day-in day-out environment. As far as re-manufacturing goes, the only thing on a trailer re-manufactured is the axle. That's what carries the v.i.n. numbers, and that's all they have to reuse. Federal law requires anti-lock on all new equipment. Have you noticed any anti-lock dollies in our system? So, just how effective is anti-lock if not on all axles?

anybody noticing electrical issues with the Sterlings that sat for a year? Should have disconnected those batteries. High humidity plus electrical current breeds corrosion!

We have 5 Cascadias where I am so far, I have a longer city run, usually 210-240 miles and The one i run has 8000 miles on it now and I have not had to regenerate it once yet, I have not heard of any one else having to do it yet either, we all have runs well over 200 miles.

They are remanufacturing the older trucks...I've seen one. My understanding is that it will only be '01 and newer. The one I saw was an '01. New paint, 22.5 wheels(i presume that means a new rear end, also), new 5th wheel. Also I was told engine and transmission were rebuilt, some older units getting 10 speeds.

::shit::

Sat in one.. It's an 08 with 01 numbers.. If you did not know our numbering system you would never know the difference..

My biggest problem with the Cascadias is that I don't have one - plus the assigned truck I had blew up..::shit::

Well CF did it, we have the management so why not??

Yea they are .. they are the 262 models

Sweet!!! Those 262's are very reliable A/C units!! The compressors are the newest and most heavy duty on the market!! I've seen them in the shops in our area already!! :icon_dance::biglaugh:

Anybody remember the old 265's or 270 models?? They were decent as well!!

Just what we need re- manufacturing trucks that should have been retired. Unless you put a glider kit on it the electrical problems alone will screw with the up-time. Another wonderful idea from that paragon of success Yellow.

Great post..

It's a great idea - note that a 311 trailer has like a 1987 registration date. Now go register a 2010 tractor vs a 2001 tractor and tell us what you find out..

Ive got a new one up here in the n'east. Was runing fine until my return trip on Sat. morn. The "On Gaurd" went all red and said "System Failure - engine ignores acc control " then I had no cruise control and the forward radar didn't work. When I got back to the barn, after shutting down and then restarting it, it went normal then did it again while I was putting my trlrs away. It also started running alittle rough, like an injecter wasn't working right. Oh well when you buy 1300 of somthing, I guess your going to get a few with bugs. Other than that, I enjoy driving it better than an '08 I got to use for a short while.

Yep, I remember them. The 265's worked better than the 262's but not as good as the 270's. Of course, the 2GO's (Georgia overdrive) worked the best.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Mine throws the error code in traffic and other times but mostly in traffic........you know, where it is really needed. Truck does the funny idle thing also.

Was told today that the radar in the bumper when it loads up with snow that it warns you of traffic and kicks off the cruise and slows to about a 1000 RPM's.:TR10driving03: Not good when you loose momentum heading up a grade and loose traction on the snow and ice and have to chain up. Hard to make it to your destination when you loose a lot of time running part of your trip at a 1000 RPM and stopping to chain up when you never had to do it with the old trucks with no fancy electronics. Just feather the throttle and keep on truckin. Be nice if they had a override switch to shut some of this stuff off. But we just dumb truck drivers and fancy pants engineers know better. Hopefully, they wear their seat belts when they're at their desk. wouldn't want them to slip out their of chair when they get a brain fart.:Fart: :rofl2:

You're using cruise in snow and ice???!!! :TR10driving03:

My bad, cruise is not used in bad weather, the right foot is still used but the radar unit loads up with snow and reduces RPM to 1000. My apologies.

Talked to the director of maintenance out here in the west. He had a few questions for me. To make a long story short, he told me they are having issues with these trucks and driver input would help. They are looking for fixes to some of the problems. Two of the problems are the radar collision and the lane control. Give your comments to the appropriate person. They want to hear about these new trucks.
