What does this latest COO mean for the laid off drivers? I didn't see that addressed in the letter. Are the laid-off drivers screwed once again courtesy of the IBT & Hoff & Tyson?

So are you saying that YRCW is not the one to blame here ? Why are you blaming the Union this is from YRC not the Union !

I believe this change of operation proposal is only the first step in the change and it`s YRC`s proposal. The IBT has not had a chance to chime in on it yet. There are always changes in the original proposal as negiotations begin and the local unions get involved. I don`t know what the IBT will do as far as changes and additional language that may be added, but it`s a little premature to demonize the IBT this early. With all the teamsters laid off all around the country,I think the IBT will put some language in to protect those workers. The IBT would be foolish to do otherwise.

Usually, if they allow laid off drivers to bid in a change, it has been addressed at the change hearing and the change committee sets a cutoff date for the layoff date. It has to be asked for, so attend your local change meeting and ask for your business agent to address the issue when he goes to the hearing. I've been retired for about 1 1/2 years now but when I was working I moved 5 times and in years when laid off members were involved they almost always had this issue covered in the final letter of understanding.

Like I said though, attend the meeting and ask for it. There will be a lot of issues to address and if you don't go to the meeting, don't expect for the union to read your mind. I know these are frustrating times but hang in there if you can. Good luck!

Sorry CarolinaJohn. I type real slow and I see you answered him already. Still want to wish Good Luck for all involved!

yea thats right the pos union will go for 10 year call back rights .
jon ive never seen a coo change the proposals .
once the proposals are put out the rest is just a dog and pony show . it will go just as yrc says it will go .then jimmy jr and $bill will share a cold drink and dinner and have a few laughs . all on our $

Longblade,I`ll agree that the change always goes through and it does pretty much like the company proposes, but language is always added and affected union locals can propose changes to the original proposal and numbers can change, other small changes to the agreement are possible. But I do agree with you 100% on the dog and pony show at the change of operation committee meetings. These meetings could be done on conference calls and save a lot of money on air travel, meals, hotel, and the drinks with $Bill. With money being as tight as it is for both the company and the union, maybe they should rethink these meetings.

hard to get a good golf game and free night on the town on a confrence call . lol
maybe the should have confrence in some fleebag hotel like they put you drivers up in . it would be over lickitty split

If you are presently working you are on the active list. You sign up to bid on transfer for coo. When that is over if there are any positions left open they can be filled by the laid off....inactive list.

Hope anyone who is thinking about a transfer, Gets the seniorty list from that area, And ask how many are currently active....... Like here in Charlotte/653 they are + 17 and at the present time you need 20 years to hold a bid here...........

another change to save the company ra ra. dont worry there will be another change to see who closes this place ,and cleans the pipeline out, come here for 3 weeks and deliver the last remaining freight in our system. tired of movin. **** bill zollars, **** jim hoffa, may his daddy beat him for eternity, **** yrc, and **** trucking boards , cause i will be banned any how, and you know what **** you to, hears to the drinks and the good times we had in cleveland, to all my brothers.

p.s. i moved 3 times, even ran teams for awhile, so **** u if u think i havent sacrificed. by the way, this was a pure union bust, because yellow was a top notch co, big r was in the dark ages, go figure, argue amongst urselfs, but the management from a :shit:ty co. came out on top, sounds like a plan to fail.

Even if the COO was finalized over a conference call, the IBT would figure a way to inflate the cost of delivering the rubber stamp to YRC so that a union dues increase could be justified

How in the world are they going to afford to pay for moves? Oh wait...don't they have a bunch of equipment not being used? Maybe they'll let you move yourself with their trucks. :shift::biglaugh:

Maybe all the laid off guys should put together a petition to get their $12K/year ("pension money") and invest it themselves. Then they can go on with their lives. Can't count on unions & Obama & YRCW for anything. Let's take our money and run....for the hills.

And how long have you paid in this money ? Did they take it out of your check ?

They took as much out of my check as they did yours. Are you collecting a pension now? I'm just as entitled to the money I spent years building and believing I would receive. YRC's mismanagement is no more the laid-off guys fault than it is yours, so give us our money as he said. The Teamsters should have put protections in place for the members as soon as YRC started they're spending spree on Preston.

Just to give credit where credit is due, it wasn't YRC that started a spending spree on Preston. That was Yellow on it's own doing what it does best. Acquiring good companies and destroying them. Don't drag Roadway into this.
