Have you ever wondered what it is like to be on a ship at sea without a rudder? Well your on one now! Can anyone tell me if you have had meetings at your terminal regarding this change of operation we have not had one meeting and it don't seem likely there will be any. Just want to know if they are keeping any terminals informed.

We have had several meetings. Also, I guess welcome to trucking boards 3 years later and you made your first post...lol Talk about baby steps :p

Oh yeah you asked about being on a ship without a rudder. The answer is no I have never been on a ship without a rudder and if you have please share your experience. I am not much into sailing or boating because I get sea sick so chances are I will never be able to experience rudderless boating.

I have never felt like I am on a rudderless ship, but I have seen times when it appears the helmsman is asleep at the wheel. This past Sunday was a good example. Due to the last week's inclement weather and cancellation Thursday night in the northeast, it was announced that it was "all hands on deck" for Sunday. This was fine. If there is work to do, let's do it. The problem I had was I felt whoever was at the helm should have announced that we were working a normal schedule on Sunday. Instead the freight was just thrown up in the air for anyone to grab including independent contractors and p+d drivers. As soon as the freight was covered everyone else was told they weren't needed resulting in a lot of spoiled plans for alot of people with no income had.

Just because you don't know where the ship is headed and the captain doesn't consult with you before making a course change, doesn't mean we are rudderless.

Does the rudderless ship beep mercilessly at you when it is veering of course??

I feel that way from time to time but here again I'm looking thru a very small window, so hang in there they tell me it will get better.
