Saw one today pulling a Southeastern set. They might be underbidding everyone. Who knows. We have plenty of Covenant trucks pulling our trailers.Maybe a Western thing but I am a seeing them in the South now too. Any body else ?

We have plenty of outside help but not sure about Gp unless that's a western thing. Don't know for sure. I mainly just work here even though I may come across as a goober smooching company man at times. Lol
I was trying to stay within the rules but I appriciate you pointing that out for meDon't you think goober smooching is a little bit of an understatement.
Mr Loon you have hit the nail on the head All of the LTLs are using purchased transportation except one. I have never seen ABF doing it yet !
If you think long and hard about it you can see at the end of the day it is the cheapest way to go all around. Yes the race to the bottom in LTL is heating up and they have found a way to increase shareholder value at the expense of their loyal workers and their family's.
Their is already unlimited part time dock workers with no benifits. What they going to do next outsource that to a 3pl ? I have seen it at one global company already!Yes part time dock and also provide the yard tractor and driver to move their freight. Now I have not figured out how to pick up and deliver freight like this but I am sure they are working on it.
This method of operation looks to be catching on and it does not matter which side of the labor fence your on, its going to affect us all.
Ever think of a generic dock where all carriers drop their freight for 3pl P&D ? Scary
